Álvaro Morata Plans to Stay at Juve

Juventus’ striker, Álvaro Morata, denies rumours of leaving the team when his contract comes to an end. The former Real Madrid player revealed his intentions of staying with the Serie A team, instead of returning to Los Blancos, as was previously rumoured.

During an interview with the Italian La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Juve striker disclosed the team’s purpose is to collect as many points as they can before Christmas and make progress in the Champions League.

It’s worth mentioning, Morata holds the club’s record for netting goals in a total of five consecutive Champions League matches. The 23-year old shares the record with now-retired Serie A player, Alessandro Del Piero. During the previous season, Morata scored an impressive number of 15 goals.

However, the player attributes his poor performance on the field to the fact, he was forced to play before he had fully recovered from the injuries, he had sustained. The striker was badly injured in August, this year, when he tore his left calf’s soleus muscle, while training. The injury resulted in him remaining off the field for over a month.

Morata continues, by assuring the press his recovery is now complete, and this certainly will be reflected in the quality of his play. The Spanish admits playing at the left is not his preferred position. Nevertheless, he does not plan to make a return to Real Madrid and brushes off all rumours of him doing so, by stating “anything people say is not my problem”.

Morata shares his chief aim is not scoring as many goals as he possibly can. The Spanish player wants to win titles with his team, first and foremost. He also denies rumours of Real Madrid’s reaching to him with a proposal of going back. “I repeat I am happy at Juventus and have no intention of changing.”

In the past several months Morata’s name has been linked with two other major clubs as well. There are speculations Liverpool and Arsenal make attempts to reach the talented striker and sign him. Morata is under contract with Juve until 2019 and reveals he plans to renew the deal with the Italians.

Despite Morata’s rebuttal of all speculations, he admits the final decision may not be his to make. Juve have indicated, if another club offers them a better deal for the Spanish striker, they might consider accepting it.
