Manchester United ace set for Ajax return for an initial £14m

Dutch footballer Daley Blind is reportedly on the verge of leaving Manchester United with former club Ajax having agreed on an initial £14m package to sign him. The Netherlands international has made nearly 150 appearances for the Red Devils over the past four years but he has eventually decided on a fresh challenge after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
According to BBC Sport, Blind is set to make his comeback with Ajax in the coming days after the Eredivisie outfit finalised to pay an initial £14m fee with a remaining £4.5m to be settled in the form of add-ons.
Blind joined the Red Devils following a strong World Cup display for the Netherlands in the summer of 2014 and he happened to feature regularly under the tutelage of former manager Louis van Gaal.
However, since Mourinho’s appointment in 2016, his fortunes changed with the Mancunian giants and last season was the most difficult yet after he managed just four Premier League starts over the course of the campaign.
As a result, the return to Ajax should benefit Blind during the backend of his professional career, although it remains to be seen whether his departure could have any impact of United’s transfer plans.
Throughout the transfer window, United have been backed to sign a new left-sided defender with Blind and Matteo Darmian tipped to part ways and now that the former has left the club, Mourinho could sanction a potential replacement.
Juventus’ Alex Sandro has been the name circling in the British media since the FA Cup final in May but so far, United have yet to make any approach with the Bianconeri keen on keeping hold of the Brazilian.
Sandro has been with the Turin giants since the summer of 2015 and during this three-year period, he has managed to become the first-choice left-back under manager Max Allegri.
