Liverpool's New Number 7

Liverpool Luis Suarez MagicianGoes without saying, the one Superstar Liverpool missed badly last season was their former Number 7 Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan international was an absolute menace for the opposition, a serial winner who scored for fun at Anfield. Since his departure, Liverpool have lacked someone who could score and create goals week in week out.
Reds may have finally found their new number 7 in the form of another South American star Roberto Firmino.
The merseysiders completed the signing of the highly rated Brazilian international while he has been in Chile for the Copa America. Firmino has been a regular scorer and creator of goals in the past two seasons for Hoffenheim. The stats provided below tell the entire story.

  • 2013-2014 – 37 Games, 22 Goals, 16 Assists
  • 2014-2015 – 36 Games, 10 Goals, 12 Assists

Liverpool supporters will be hoping that he settles quickly in the Prermier league and replicates his brilliant form at Anfield as well.
The Reds managed to score mere 52 league goals last time around, the lowest under Rodgers’ reign. Firmino is surely brought to take that number up again and he has all the talent to do exactly that.
Update: As far as the shirt numbers are concerned, Mail have reported that Firmino has asked for Number 11 while James Milner will wear the iconic Number 7 shirt.
