Manchester United need top quality defenders and one of the best they have been linked with is Brazilian star Daniel Alves.
The Barcelona right back will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and big clubs are after his signature.
According to report from Metro, Manchester United have moved closer to Daniel Alves signing after the latest comments coming from Barca president that former Sevilla star’s future is not certain.
Josep Maria claimed:
“What concerns us now is that he plays and contributes to the team,”
“What is to come, will come. We never explain what we do on the issue of contracts.”
“If it is done, it will be done discretely, like always.”
Louis van Gaal needs someone at right back position who is solid at the back as well as adds into attack to perfectly fit the 3-5-2 system.
Alves surely fits the bill but are his best days behind him? He has featured in 20 games for the Catalan giants this season.
Manchester United are also interested in signing Everton right back Seamus Coleman but will surely have to splash heavy cash to sign him while Alves will be a free agent next summer.

No. He is very old. Let try young stars like Clyne, Coleman, etc
I agree. Alves is too old. Why would United let Evra go only to pick up Alves. I would rather see Raphael play than Alves. Alves is a dirty player who takes liberties when he believes the ref is not looking and he flops around on the turf and is a cry baby when the ref don’t calls these make-believe fouls.
I dont think it Alves could be be of any use at this point of his life of Football. The age and the pressure in the EPL if he could get into injury, then once again he joins the home for the disabled as it is with MAN utd during these seasons. With physicality playing a big role, we should be judicious in getting who is in is early thirties.
