After a shaky start to the new season under new manager Louis van Gaal, Manchester United have bounced back well.
Although the Red Devils have not really been all dominant and impressive still they got important wins and currently find themselves in fourth place.
With tough fixtures coming up next, United must improve and hopefully injured players returning will help in that.
Adding to that, they have to secure top quality signings in the winter window to ensure that they do end up qualifying for the Champions League.
Another midfielder signing still remains as one of the priorities along with a top quality central defender.
United have been linked with several quality midfielders. They did land Herrera in the summer but could not get Strootman who was injured or Vidal who opted to stay with Juventus.
Another player that has been in United’s sight is German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. The Dortmund star has been injured for long as well but is all set to return to action against Cologne next weekend. Gundogan claimed:
“I am now available. The plan is that I am fully integrated into the team as soon as the national players are back.”
“I am assuming that I am in the squad on the weekend against FC Cologne.”
Ilkay was one of the key members of the Dortmund squad that reached the Champions League final in 2013 but since then injury has not helped him.
United are pushing to secure transfer deal for Gundogan in winter and perhaps he will come cheaper as compared to Strootman and Vidal.
