Manchester may have signed the likes of Rojo, Blind and Shaw to strengthen United’s defense after the departure of Evra, Ferdinand, and captain Vidic.
However, if there was one defender who could have been the perfect replacement for the likes of Vidic and Ferdinand then that was Mats Hummels.
Louis van Gaal was well aware of that fact and chased him all summer to somehow lure the German international to Old Trafford but it wasn’t to be.
Dortmund were keen to keep their prized asset and Hummels also insisted that he is happy with his current club.
The World Cup winner has again claimed that if he wants a move out of Borussia Dortmund, he will make it clear and open. He claimed:
“I would have one if I had insisted. But I decided against it deliberately.”
“There is currently no club in the world where I would be happier. If I eventually want to go somewhere else, then I would like the proceeds to be 100% fair and open.”
Man United may have signed top stars without Champions League football but not every player can be convinced.
Dortmund will be featuring in the Europe’s elite competition this season and it will be difficult for the Red Devils to lure him in January.
However, Hummels has confirmed that if he will want to move, he will make it clear. So United will still be closely monitoring him.
