Not Schweni: €35m Star is Man United's Priority Midfielder

Kevin StrootmanHow long are Manchester United going to take to sign a quality central midfielder to fill the gap for next season.
Last summer, the Red Devils wasted a lot of time chasing the likes of Fabregas, Alcantara and Herrera etc but in the end could only lure Fellani on deadline day.
This time, the English giants are linked with the likes of Kroos, Schweni etc but still have not lured the much needed midfield start.
Two players are mainly in the lime light for Man United’s midfield, Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger and Roma’s Kevin Strootman.
Schweni was reported to be Van Gaal’s priority midfielder but as per Daily Star, €35m rated Kevin Strootman is Manchester United’s priority signing this summer.
As per the provided link, previously the Serie A side claimed that the Dutch international who was signed last summer is not for sale at any cost.
However, now their Director of Football Sabbatini is willing to accept an offer of 35 million Euros for the versatile midfielder.
Louis van Gaal is a huge admirer of his compatriot and wants him to be at Old Trafford next season with Man United.
The major obstacle in Stroorman saga is not Champions League football but it is his long term injury.
Kevin has not played since March and is expected to be out till December. Even then, Van Gaal is keen to lure him as he is one for the future.

I don’t think Man United will get him even in January, I wouldn’t rule out a move forever but he will be at Roma for at least another season, Guaranteed. This Strootman link is based on the good relationship he has with Van Gaal. You see pictures of Van Gaal Van Persie and Strootman at this game together and we know he rates him highly , so that’s why these rumors have so much leg, but I don’t think Roma will consider any bid to be honest. It has taken them awhile but they are in Europe now and he was one of their best players leading up to it before his awful injury. We would be silly not to get another Center Mid, because we are waiting for this guy.

To be honest i’d not be happy if United signed any player who is currently sidelined with a serious injury that’ll keep him out until the New Year, I rate Stootman and I believe if he fully recovers he’ll be an excellent addition to the squad but the bottom line really is that we need players who’ll come in and make a difference from the start of the season!
Kroos has to be the number 1 midfield target and if Van Gaal is willing to pay €35m for a currently injured Strootman then i’m sure Bayern will take a similar fee for Kroos, in any case I believe that United should wait until Strootman has fully recovered before they sign him should that be at during the winter transfer window or preferably next summer when we’ll have been able to assess whether or not his current injury has affected his game in any way.
finally on a side note last nights Holland Spain match was the 1st time I really watched Martin Indi, Blind and De Frij with all 3 impressing although i’ll stop short of saying we should sign them all based on a single match even if it was against Spain. My own preference would be for United to sign Hummels, Garay and Koke along with Kroos and Shaw, with these 5 signings United will not only guarantee Champions League football but they’ll challenge for title too.
