Manchester United rebuffed in their attempt to sign Real Madrid star

Manchester United have reportedly failed with a late attempt to acquire the services of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. The Portugal international has been a key performer for Los Blancos over the past nine seasons but he has supposedly made his mind up for a fresh challenge this summer with Juventus leading the race.
According to The Independent, the Mancunian giants are understood to have approached over the availability of their former player with chief-executive Ed Woodward seeking to make a marquee signing before the transfer deadline.
However, their approach has been snubbed by the European champions who have indicated that talks are already in motion with the Bianconeri for the proposed sale of Ronaldo.
The 33-year-old has managed to achieve everything within reach of club football during the course of his professional career and he is now supposedly eyeing a fresh challenge with Juventus in the Serie A.
The Bianconeri have yet to finalise a transfer fee with Los Blancos regarding the same but widespread sources suggest that the move is the beckoning with the forward having highlighted his ambition to club president Florentino Perez.
Perez has been notorious in turning down bids for the club’s key players over the years but Ronaldo’s exit from the Bernabeu appears likely to happen, unless he is convinced to sign a new bumper contract.
Meanwhile, United’s failure to sign Ronaldo may be regarded as a potential blow, given they have not managed to make any big-name signings during the ongoing transfer window.
United have spent nearly £70m on two recruits in Fred and Diogo Dalot this summer but neither player has the reputation or fear factor which Ronaldo would have possibly brought to Old Trafford.
