Manchester United were looking for a top quality midfielder in the summer transfer window and ended up signing Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian has been quite ineffective for the Devils since signing. Another name United were constantly linked with during summer was Kevin Strootman.
Dutch star is doing wonders for Roma this season since his €17m move last summer. Already with 2 goals and 4 assists in 11 league appearances, Strootman is in fantastic form
Surely, United fans hope they would have signed him instead of Fellaini. Nevertheless, Man United may still lure him sooner rather than later according to former PSV boss Dick Advocaat who claimed:
“I do not think he will stay at Roma that long. If Kevin is at this level, he will be plucked away.
“And then it will be a team of the calibre of Manchester United.”
On the other hand, another top talent might be available for the premier league clubs as Zenit’s Axel Witsel wishes to play in the English league.
Gunners may as well be leading the race for the Belgian because back in 2011, his father claimed that Arsenal is Witsel’s dream club.
“He doesn’t have a specific target but he has a dream and it’s called Arsenal, but this doesn’t mean that he’s not open to other clubs.”
The 24 year old signed for Russian side Zenit last year for a reported fee of €38m. Surely he is still going to cost Arsenal a lot but will Wenger be willing to pay heavy sum for a midfielder, only time will tell.
With Ramsey, Arteta, Wilshere and Flamini there, Arsenal’s central midfield has enough quality. The player they badly need is a top quality goal scorer.
