Chelsea’s Fernando Torres May Lose World Cup Place

Chelsea’s Fernando Torres May Lose World Cup PlaceLiverpool football club had one of the best strikers in the world few years back in the form of Fernando Torres. However, now he is not even considered as a major threat by defenders.
Since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2011, Chelsea have tried different managers to somehow revive El Nino but largely failed.
His goal scoring stats after leaving Liverpool have been poor to say the least. Nando did well in last year’s Europa League but has been one of the flops in the premier league.
Even the returning Jose Mourinho has signed veteran Samuel Eto’o and if he hits form, Torres will surely warm the bench again.
Lately Torres was not selected in Spanish squad, and if such a scenario continues then he may lose world cup place as well.
The Spanish number 9 should have left Stamford Bridge to play regular football and sort out his form. Instead, perhaps he preferred the lucrative contract and stayed. When will he realize that it is not the right place for him. Also, when will Abramovich realize that Torres is past his best.
La Roja have numerous top quality forwards now that are better than Fernando Torres. Negredo, Soldado and even veteran David Villa is doing great after moving to Torres’s former club Atletico Madrid.
We will have to see how Llorente performs in Serie A but for now, Spain have 3 top strikers already and only one starting place upfront for them.
If Torres’s torrid time at Chelsea continues then he has to hope against hope for a World Cup place. Del Bosque may think of taking him to Brazil based on his past records for Spain but even then there are little chances that he will be playing.

  1. Rich says:

He should come back to Anfield on a free or loan. BR will sort him out.

  2. 6YardsOut says:

He can still do a decent job for Spain and Chelsea. The competition for places is bound to be tough in the Spain team though so i wouldn’t say anybody has a guaranteed place.

  3. Forster Deladem says:

Torres should be loan out to where he can have frequent playing time. He’ll recover I believe..
