Liverpool announce their fourth summer signing

Liverpool have announced their fourth recruit of the summer transfer window after paying a goalkeeper transfer record fee of £67m for Alisson Becker. The 25-year-old has arrived at Anfield after a wonderful 2017/18 campaign with AS Roma, who managed to reach the Champions League semi-final for the first time in three decades.
Earlier this month, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had given an indication that he could stick with Loris Karius for the upcoming campaign despite the German being guilty of making calamitous blunders during the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last season.
Shortly after his statement, however, Karius dropped another clanger in a 3-2 pre-season friendly win over Tranmere Rovers and this may have driven the club’s ambition to lure Alisson to Anfield.
With the arrival of Alisson, the Reds have spent nearly £170m in the transfer window with the pre-agreement for Naby Keita included and this should pretty much sum up their business for the summer.
Liverpool possessed the best-performing frontline in Europe last term as the attacking trident of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane scored nearly 100 goals between them and they should fancy their chances of competing for the title this season with the right start.
Unlike some of their direct rivals, the Reds have got a relatively easier looking schedule with four winnable games from the off and the perfect start would put them in a strong position before a period of four matches where they are due to tackle Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Over the years, the Merseyside outfit have possessed a weakness in one or the other department which has hampered their Premier League aspirations but the current squad set up by Jurgen Klopp appears genuinely balanced for a title push, provided they can manage to avoid any long-term injuries.
