Van Dijk May Join Liverpool so Club Eye $26million Player

Jurgen Klopp DortmundLiverpool were shaky at the back last season and so far, they have only signed Robertson for their defense this summer.
Andrew was part of the team (Hull City) that had the worst defensive record in the Premier League last season (conceded 80 goals). So it will be fair to stay that the Merseysiders have not really strengthened their back line.
The Anfield club need a top quality central defender and they have been linked with Van Dijk, who wants to join Liverpool (via Mirror) and has already told Southampton that he wants to leave (via BBC).
Virgil’s current deal with the Saints will expire in 2022 and he is earning (Daily Star) £65,000-a-week ($85,000-a-week).

The Saints want to keep him but are well aware of the fact that they might have to sell him this summer with Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea linked. In such a scenario, they are eyeing Kevin Wimmer as a replacement. The Tottenham Hotspur defender could cost around 20 million pounds ($26million) (Daily Mail).
Pochettino mainly preferred the likes of Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Dier in his defense last season and because of that Wimmer mostly had to warm the bench.
The 24-year-old Austrian defender only started 4 league games in the last campaign and as per the provided Daily Mail link, Pochettino knows that Kevin wants to play regular first team football.
The above mentioned price should really be enough for someone who only made 10 appearances (all competitions) in the entire last season.
