Manchester United have got one of the best goal keepers in the world in the form of Spanish international David De Gea.
However, the former Atletico Madrid may depart in the summer transfer window and if reports in the media are anything to go by then the current first choice Atletico Madrid goalie may end up joining Man Utd.
According to MEN, Slovenian international Jan Oblak is interested in joining the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.
Under the management of Diego Simeone, Atletico have been rock solid at the back with top quality defenders around but a lot of the credit goes to their fantastic goalie as well.
The 24-year-old star was voted as the best goalkeeper in the La Liga for his performances last season. He featured in every league game for Atletico and only conceded 18 goals. More importantly, he helped his side keep no fewer than 24 clean sheets.
This season, in 21 league games, he has conceded 17 goals and kept 10 clean sheets. In 7 Champions League appearances, Jan has kept 5 clean sheets and only conceded 2 goals.
Last month, Oblak was brilliant for his team in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen. He made an unbelievable triple save during the game and was heavily praised by Simeone and Griezmann. The French playmaker stated (Marca):
“He is the best goalkeeper in the world and every game proves it,”
In addition, Simeone claimed :
“He’s tremendous, and what he did in that play was fantastic,”
As per the provided MEN link, Mourinho could look to sign Jan but he will probably have to splash a huge fee to lure the goalie, who has a release clause of 100 million euros (£85million) in his contract.
In your opinion, is Oblak good enough to replace De Gea?
