Liverpool are closing in to sign a quality midfielder in the form of Georginio Wijnaldum from Championship side Newcastle United.
The Dutch international was arguably the best player for the Magpies last season. He scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists in the last campaign.
According to reports (Sky Sports), Liverpool and Newcastle United have agreed a fee of 25 million pounds for the transfer of Wijnaldum. The Reds have offered a long term deal that will expire in 2021.
The 25-year-old star is a versatile star who can operate anywhere in the midfield. Last season, Wijnaldum played as a left midfielder, attacking midfielder, center midfielder and also as a right midfielder for NUFC.
Dutch manager Louis van Gaal used Georginio as a defensive midfielder during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He has made 30 appearances for the national side and scored 6 goals.
With Mane, Coutinho and Firmino likely to start in the attack for the Reds, Wijnaldum may replace Henderson in the midfield to partner with Emre Can.
