Forget Lacazette – Pochettino Ready to Seal Perfect Signing for Spurs

Alex LacazetteTottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino tried hard but failed to sign a striker in the last two transfer windows.
The Argentine boss is eager to lure one this summer to reinforce the squad for the Champions League and certain quality players are in the lime light.
Spurs have already moved in to sign French international Alexandre Lacazette, however, there are other reports linking Tottenham with a move to secure the signing of former Chelsea star Andre Schurrle.
According to reports (Talksport via Bild), Pochettino is ready to sign the former Leverkusen attacker who is not happy with his role at Wolfsburg.
Lacazette is an out and out striker who will most likely be utilized in the absence of Kane. On the other hand, Schurrle can prove to be the perfect signing for Spurs to reinforce their attack/strike-force as the German international can play anywhere in the attacking third.
The 25-year-old World Cup winner will support Kane up front and can effectively be used as a lone striker in the absence of the England international as well. Schurrle scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 21 league starts for the Bundesliga side last season.
In your opinion, should Tottenham sign Lacazette or Schurrle?

These 2 guys are completely different players . Cannot be compared at all.

Spurs should sign both if they get the chance.

I disagree with your assessment of Schurrle as the perfect solution to Tottenham’s striker situation (and also disapprove of the implication Pochettino is ready to sign this player – yet another misleading strapline to a football blog). That Lacazette is an out-and-out striker is a plus rather than a minus. I’m sure Pochettino is after just such a player. Also, Lacazette is very different from Kane, more of a compact Defoe-like player, who could play further forward and be on the pitch at the same time as Kane who can drop back a bit. And if Kane was not able to play or was rested, Lacazette is a player who can be relied upon to score goals, something you could not expect from Schurrle who is hardly prolific with nine goals in twenty-one starts. Spurs have a number of players in midfield who currently support Kane, what Spurs need now is another full-on striker not a utility man who can do a bit of this and a bit of that in the forward areas.

‘Schurrle who is hardly prolific with nine goals in twenty-one starts’
So nearly a goal every other game then?!
I’d say that was fairly prolific for a striker!

@Janes. Subjectivity is something we encounter on a daily basis, proving there is no absolute right or wrong in most situations. For me Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are ‘prolific’, Kane, Vardy, Lacazette, Batshuayi and those with similar end of season goal tallies are relatively prolific. Schurrle’s 43% success rate (9 goals in 21 games) is not to me prolific for a striker. Tottenham midfielders Alli and Lamela have more goals than that. What is Marcus Rashford’s goals per games ratio at eighteen years of age? Quite a bit more than Schurrle’s. As I say, these views are always subjective. If you we managing Aston Villa last season you’d have been delighted with any player who scored nine goals.
