Manchester United were in pole position to earn the final Champions League qualification place, however, last night’s defeat against West Ham United means that Manchester City are favorites to finish fourth.
Sakho gave West Ham the lead early on in the game with a deflected strike and the Hammers went into the half time break at 1-0.
After the break, Manchester United bombarded Bilic’s defense with attack after attack and the pressure paid off. French international Anthony Martial equalized from close range in the 51st minute.
The big money signing from Monaco was the only player who looked like scoring for the visitors and he struck again in the 72nd minute with a brilliant solo effort to give United the lead.
However, Louis van Gaal’s men could not hold on and conceded two goals due to really poor defending and eventually lost the all important game.
Manchester United supporters were furious and it looks highly likely that City will finish in the top four.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men have a superior goal difference and a draw on the final day should be enough to earn Champions League qualification.
