Yes we need a strike partner to lift the game to the next level. In the recent matches finding space and optimising goal scoring chances inside the box needs a good poacher of goals. Look at the recent matches by and large the game has improved in the midfield area. But we still lack the finish, specially when midfield quickly places ball in spaces, there might be just one guy who runs at the end to be confronted by two or three opposition defenders and the chance is squandered. Keeping Europe also in mind we need a good striker, who will lift the standard of the other front runners in the team.

Obviously yes .But a younger striker is preferable. If LVG must win trophies, he must sign a good striker in January.
