Why Liverpool Fans are Concerned About Benteke

Brendan Rodgers LiverpoolIt looks highly likely that Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will join Liverpool football club for a heavy sum.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the merseysiders needed a top striker as last season Sturridge mostly remained on the sidelines and Balotelli proved to be a major flop. Not to forget, Luis Suarez was badly missed.
Benteke is by all means a proven Premier League goalscorer, yet Liverpool fans have few concerns.
First of all is the price tag. He has quality, that is evident but quality worth 32.5 million pounds, fans have other ideas.
Then there are fears that they are paying such a heavy price for someone who is a target man. That will surely remind the supporters of certain Andy Carroll.
Out of 13, Benteke scored 4 headed goals last season and in 2013-2014, Out of 10, the Belgian scored 5 headed goals.
Liverpool like to keep the ball on the ground while Aston Villa play direct football. Brendan Rodgers was quick to get rid of Carroll who did not fit in his system. Surely, Rodgers is aware that he is signing someone who is a lot more than just a target man.
On the other hand, Former Liverpool star Didi Hamann claims that he will pay even more than 32.5 million pounds for Benteke as he is that good.
Reds are not the only PL club to have shown interest in Benteke, even Spurs and United were in the race and that is only the case because the Belgian international has the quality to be a success. Liverpool fans must back the striker to be a hit at Anfield.

I have major concerns about Benteke. At £32.5 he’s way over priced and seems not to have the skill set Rodgers spouts on about. He does not press the opposition (his national manger likens him to an immobile pole), he’s not particularly skillful or fast and won’t make the runs Couthinho looks for. If he is successful then Rodgers keeps his job, if he isn’t successful then Rodgers is gone. I think we’ll be looking for a better manager in December, never mind better coaches (Gary Mac excluded).
