Liverpool have secured several key signings already this summer but are still in search of a top quality striker.
The merseysiders were linked with Colombian international Carlos Bacca. The Sevilla striker was phenomenal for the La Liga side last season and attracted interest from top clubs.
Reds however have lost out to AC Milan as the star striker has agreed four year deal with the Rossoneri. The Serie A side will pay Sevilla €29 million fee.
Bacca scored 28 goals and provided 10 assists in over 50 games for the Spanish side last season and was the man of the match in their Europa League final victory against Dnipro.
Bacca leaves CL football to join Milan who will not even be taking part in Europe next season while Liverpool are at least in Europa League.
Few days ago, there were reports that Carlos wants to sign for Liverpool. What went wrong?
Liverpool are more interested in signing 24 year old Aston Villa striker Benteke. Without doubt, Bacca is better than the Belgian star. Perhaps the merseysiders did not push much to secure Bacca’s signature because of his age as he will turn 29 this September.
