Under the management of Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool signed a young Uruguayan center half in Sebastian Coates.
The hopes were high from the South American star who was voted as the young player of the year in Uruguay’s 2011 Copa America winning side.
However, Coates could not quite showcase his talent at Anfield and has finally left the club to sign for Sunderland.
Reds agreed £4m deal few days back with Black Cats for the transfer of Coates and the reports today suggested that the 24 year old will be completing his permanent move. Finally Sunderland have officially announced star transfer.
Liverpool will not be bothered much as they have more than a few first team center halves like Skrtel, Sakho, Toure and Lovren. They also signed young Joe Gomez from Charlton as well.
He spent last season on loan with Sunderland. At the start, he missed a lot of games because of Hamstring injury. However, even after returning to full fitness, Coates found himself warming the bench and could only play four times in the first half of the season.
Since the appointment of Dutch manager Advocaat in March, Coates got his chance and earned a regular starting spot.
The Uruguayan could only feature in 10 league games for Sunderland last season but played in every minute of their last six league games and perhaps impressed the manager enough to make his move permanent.
