Arsenal – €112,000 a week Star Finally Seals Deal with Gunners

Arsenal FCArsenal sold their former captain Thomas Vermaelen last summer to Barcelona after the Belgian star had a torrid campaign.
The current captain Mikel Arteta was linked with a move away from the Emirates as well but the Spaniard has extended his stay by finally sealing one year deal with the Gunners.
As per the provided link, the new extension for the former Everton star means that the North Londoners will not be signing another midfielder this summer. Not sure if the supporters will like that idea.
Arteta reportedly earns €112,000 a week but terms of his new one year deal have not been mentioned in the Daily Star report.
The 33 year old veteran might be Arsenal’s captain but he has no place in the starting XI with Ramsey and Coquelin bossing the midfield.
It does not make any sense why Arteta has been handed a new contract when he spent most part of last season on the injury table and could only feature in 7 league games for the club.
Instead, there are reports that French defensive midfielder Flamini is set to be released by the club this summer.
The Spanish international has thus far played in 136 games for Arsenal, scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists.
Arteta is by no means a strong defensive midfielder but is a quality deep lying playmaker. Wenger can utilize him in games against weaker oppositions.

That all Wenger can do , paying €112,000 a week for Mikel Arteta who is 34 years old to sit on the bench most of the season while he refused to sign one Vidal who is one of the best industrious outstanding midfielders the World over. Few years ago Wenger refused to extend the Contract of Pires for two years because he was 29 years old and and sent away Henry , Vi era , Pet-it and Overarms because he doesn’t extend for more than rone year for players who reach the age of 30 years . Does really Wenger knows what he is doing ????!

One things for sure, Wenger knows far more about team requirements than you. I would love to know how you come to the conclusion that Wenger refused to sign Vidal?

We need an injury prone 28 year old Chilean who maybe up on drink driving manslaughter charges when we have Ramsey and Wilshere already?
Maybe, just maybe Wenger is learning the value of experience or financially we are know able to offer contracts to older players because we’re not hamstrung by the stadium debt anymore? Or maybe both.
      Engage brain next time.

Most other teams are busy in the transfer market.Wenger bought Cech and thinks that he won the league. We will finish in the top 4 again and that is Arsenals trophy.Wenger is buying many young players who will come good in many years time.We need good quality experienced players NOW

  3. we dont know aw problem all other managers are in market 4 good and experience players but sit and increase lot of old age salary.

It depends what you do and provide when in the field of play. I believe there is a reason why Arteta is being given a new contract, he has a role to play because of his experience and direct the young players in the field of play to do well. Arteta when in good form without any injuries he is a joy to watch and he can do even play much better in midfield. He can provide and score goals as well, it is very important to keep him for another season. Those who cannot see what he can do when in the field of play are not matured footballers.

All clubs have their identity. Arsenal have theirs too and its time to understand this is not a buying club. We develop our own players unlike majority of EPL clubs. Wenger said before that “You cannot solve all your problems by always running to the Transfer market, you can your problems internally.” thus he brought in le Coq when everyone was shouting for a DM signing. Results: He performed excellently. As fans, we need to understand that Arsenal cannot buy 25 players like most top 4 teams are. Have a look at some of the top 4 teams and you will realize some dont have any player from their youth academies. A big shame. Arsenals’ policy of bringing up young players and promoting them to the first team will only boost them in acquiring young talents. Believe it or not, Arsenal is 10 years ahead of all top 4 teams. A modern stadium, per with FFP rules, a golden generation of youth who can go straight into first team, a brand of attacking and entertaining football… And who engineered all this? Le Prof Arsene Wenger. AW is also 10 years ahead of other EPL managers in terms of planning.

I’m afraid the author is displaying astounding ignorance when it comes to Arteta and his role now and I’m the future.
When we play teams who sit deep, we don’t need Coqulen we will need a deep lying playmaker with a wide range of passing. Arteta is the only such player in the squad.
He’s also been earmarked for a future coaching role and his experience and guidance to the younger players around him will be invaluable.

We are one or two player(s) away to complete the business. Solid center forward striker, DM if vital. Wenger is pretty wise, problems aren’t solved in the market all time. Just take a look at Liverpool who has that knowledge, spends much but no reward.
