As always, Arsenal are linked with many top players this summer for almost every position but for now Gunners have only signed one goalie in the form of Petr Cech.
According to latest reports, Arsenal are closing in to finally seal 2nd signing of the summer after making a huge $24m offer for young Italian defender Daniele Rugani.
The Azzurri defenders are renowned as one of the best in the world and the 20 year old Juventus center half is considered one of the best young talents in the country at the moment.
However, the Serie A champions already have world class center halves in the form of Chiellini and Bonucci to block his path in the starting XI.
Rugani spent last season on loan with Empoli. Not only did he start every league game for them but also completed 90 minutes in all of 38 fixtures.
Gunners have the likes of Mertesacker, Koscielny and Paulista for central defense. Do Arsenal really need another central defender, perhaps yes but are they really going to spend heavy for a backup player, perhaps not.

We are tired of lies lies,lies.Please give us truth.Frankly if Arsene does not sign at least another 2 players in areas that we are lacking we will be an average team this year.Many of the top clubs are active in the transfer period but Arsenal year after year battle to lure top players with the exception of a few.We are too scared to spend and this seems to be the norm and I cant see how the Arsenal supporters can have confidence in Arsene and his mentality.Once again Arsenal will fall short and we must face reality.Fire Wenger.
