Manchester United have already done business to improve their attack by securing deal for Memphis Depay.
Now, Louis van Gaal’s focus is on one of United’s weakest links that is the defensive setup. United are in dire need of a world class defender and now signing one is their priority.
According to latest reports, Manchester United are confident of finally sealing the signing of German international Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund.
As per the provided link, the deal was on the rocks as per reports last week but now Manchester United are in well advance talks to sign the World Cup winner and are confident of doing business.
Hummels has had a terrible season considering his individual performances. Still, the Kaiser remains one of the best center backs in the world and will likely cost Man United around 51 million Euros.
United already have the likes of Rojo, Smalling, Jones, Evans and youngsters like McNair and Blackette for central defensive position. It remains to be seen whether they will sell any of the mentioned stars because the position is overcrowded.
There is now doubt that Hummels will jump straight into the starting XI and Louis van Gaal will expect that Mats becomes the leader of defense in no time.
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds.

Considering the talent that we have in youngsters at United ike Bleckett, McNair Jones and Smalling, the poor form of Humells, his price of ;nearly £40m and his record at Dortmund this season, one asks what you United are after in buying Humells, a leader who does nothing but tell others how to defend..? Soon he will loose that respect from the youngest when they realise that his poor form has continued. I could understand if he was going for £20m. Vidic who is close to free is a better option if United just want a leader to train youngsters
