Manchester United are already short of quality defenders and surely they will want that their better ones stay with the club for long term.
One of those defenders is Brazilian fullback Rafael whose contract will be expiring in less than two years.
According to Goal, Rafael is eager to seal new deal with Manchester United.
Although, United are looking to seriously reinforce their defense in the upcoming winter transfer window but their priority is going to be central defense.
On the other hand, they have already signed so many players that can play as left back such as Shaw, Rojo as well as Blind that they do not need to focus on that position anymore.
As far as right back is concerned, United have been interested in the likes of Coleman but they already have Rafael and even Jones and Smalling can play there.
The 24 year old star is reaching his peak and can prove to be fruitful in the years to come.
However, his main concern might be about United being linked with compatriot Dani Alves whose contract will run down at the end of the season.
Nevertheless, currently Rafael is the best right back Louis van Gaal has in his squad and their is no point in letting him leave.
United must sit down with the player and extend his contract sooner rather than later.

His contract should be renewed without any delay. Presently, he is the best choice for that position; besides, he is one of the pllayers we have. He is a committed and hardworking player for now. His workrate and committment is second to none as evidenced with his performances so far.
Rafael is a great quality rightback who has skill and a great workrate. In the first half last game hazard dissapeared. Only weakness he sometimes gets a red card or penalty against him. But he has been our best defender so far and a huge impact with his return. We should sign a new contract quickly. He also has the desire to play for man united his whole life.
Rafael is great player his work rate man united should renew his contract he is very good so my comment is van gaal should not waste time of renewing his contract they should not allow his to terminate.
