James Leads the Way but Colombia Bowed Out with Pride

James Rodriguez David LuizColombians have everything to be proud about their brilliant World Cup campaign that saw them qualify for the last eight for the first time in their history.
They scored first in every game but sadly against the mighty Brazil, the nerves took over and an early mistake from the corner gave hosts the lead.
Colombia responded in style by bombarding Brazil’s defense with waves of attack, however with little cutting edge in the first half.
Thiago Silva and David Luiz were not only solid at the back for the Samba Boys but also scored the crucial goals that helped them earn victory on the day.
Silva perhaps got lucky that the ball dropped to him on the far post from a corner as he tapped it in. However, Luiz’s goal was pure quality, 35 yards out stunning free kick, Ospina had no answers to that one.
Colombian and Monaco wonder boy James Rodriguez was once again the architect for his national side as almost everything good came from him but could not get much help from the team mates.
The 22 year old boy did score the goal from the spot late on to take his tally to 6 goals and remains firm favorite to win the coveted golden boot.
Brazil have been handed a major blow as star player Neymar will play no further part in the competition after the horrific injury he suffered against Colombia.
Moreover, their captain Silva is also suspended for the all important semi final clash against the Germans.
