Juan Mata was Chelsea’s best player last season but now finds himself in a complex scenario under new manager Jose Mourinho who prefers others over the Spaniard.
Blues supporters have been anfry at the fact that Jose has utilized Mata rarely and preferred other attacking midfield options.
However, like always, Mourinho is absolutely right in keeping him on the bench as with such quality depth, his attacking midfielders are performing better than Mata.
The Special One plays a specific system and if he thinks that one player is not perfect fit for it then that player is not selected, no matter how high profile star he may be.
Mourinho always preferred Drogba over Shevchenko despite signing him for hefty sum on owner’s will. He kept legendary Spain and Los Blancos captain Casillas out for average performances and brought Diego Lopez who clearly performed better.
No matter how much Chelsea fans cry, Jose never bothers and does what he does best. No one can deny that Oscar has been the best player for Chelsea playing CAM this season. Is Mata better, NO and once again the difference was clearly shown when Brazilian was brought on.
Hazard has been Chelsea’s best player this season, is Mata any better, again NO. Lastly, Mourinho added Schurrle and Willian this season and the latter is performing brilliant lately.
Mata does not have that fast pace as compared to the likes of other attacking midfielders and has not got the ability to track back quickly which Mourinho always requires in his system.
No one can deny that majority of the Chelsea attacking midfielders are top quality players. Must give any manager a selection headache but keeping Mata out is perhaps the easiest decision for Mourinho and it has been evident.
Mou did claim that he wants Mata to stay but will not mind if he leaves. Spaniard may as well depart to ensure that he keeps his place in Spanish national side for the World Cup 2014.

The bench made him rusty as well morinyo is deviding the players. His system of devide and rule was since the last time he was there he keeps out players that were under previous managers suspecting them of sabotaging him the happened at bernabeu
Mata is a good player no doubt about that. if you can flash back, Mou said he want Mata to walked on trend between 3 player and I think Mata is not yet up to. secondly, I disagree that Mou bench Mata b/c he is not the one that signed him. Haz, Oscar, etc were not Mou signing. I love Mata he should pls understand Mou because I always want to see him play for Chelsea.
those that were accusing mou of benching mata the dont know what the are doin,football is a game of reality,the guys were performing better than him,so at this point our vision is jose,jose was not the kind of managers that u will keep telling scrutiny in football,he sees better than u people seeing,if any one of this guys want to see matter in chelsea if he goes follow him,we were hundred percent behind jose,beside dont forget mou was the man that manufacture this team, i think most of u were chelsea fans after mou departures,we dont need such guys with poor perception,fuck u up jose up chelsea.
Jose is 100% right. Oscar, Hazard and Willian are better than Mata. Let him leave us. We don’t want Spain element to divide us the way they did with Madrid. Mata can go to hell for all I care.
