Paris Saint-Germain eyeing big-money move for Manchester United midfielder

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reported to have made contact with Paul Pogba’s representative ahead of a potential move for his signature during the summer transfer window.
The France international has been fairly inconsistent with his performances this campaign and it is now claimed that super-agent Mino Raiola has discussed the possibility of the midfielder leaving United for Parc des Princes.
According to ESPN, Raiola has spoken to a number of elite European clubs, and Les Parisiens are understood to be very keen on pursuing the player’s services. It is added that Pogba’s agent has been in contact with Les Parisiens for ‘months’ and there is a possible chance of the deal going through.
Meanwhile, a separate report from The Mail suggests that Jose Mourinho is willing to sanction the Frenchman’s exit during the summer but the United hierarchy are said to demand in excess of £140m in order to push through his departure.
Obviously, Pogba has struggled to put in a string of impressive performances together but it would come as a surprise, if he is to leave Old Trafford for the second time after just two seasons.
Pogba has shown glimpses of his extreme potential in recent matches against Manchester City and Bournemouth this month and it could be noted that the 25-year-old thrives when the criticism is thrown towards him.
Meanwhile, the Frenchman has also found much of his success when played on the left side of a midfield three and Mourinho has been willing to maintain his patience towards the midfielder by offering him regular starts since the international break.
Paris Saint-Germain are more than capable of paying staggering sums after their world-record move for Neymar last summer but United, at the moment, cannot afford to lose Pogba with Michael Carrick due to retire while Marouane Fellaini’s future remains uncertain.
Fellaini has yet to extend his United contract beyond June 2018 and it appears likely that he could pursue a Bosman move elsewhere – with the view of acquiring a significant signing-on fee.
