Arsenal are still chasing Liverpool star man Luis Suarez while the Reds are looking to hold on to him and further reinforce their squad with quality players. The latest reports suggest that Liverpool are looking to lure two Diegos.
The players in discussion are Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid and Diego Capel of Sporting CP. Reds have reportedly bid 21 million pounds for the Brazilian international and according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Liverpool will triple Costa’s earnings to sign him.
Costa is a versatile player, capable of playing both as an out and out striker and out wide on the wings. However, Liverpool have already signed one such player in Iago Aspas who was handed the iconic number 9 shirt as well.
Nevertheless, Diego Costa scored 20 goals last season for Atletico and provided 15 assists as well. In case Suarez leaves, Costa can be a worthy replacement. Without Champions League football, there are always going to be few world class quality options.
Latest rumor suggests that Liverpool also want Sporting Lisbon’s playmaker Diego Capel, who has the ability of playing on both flanks.
The 25 year old scored 5 goals and provided 9 assists last season. The Spanish winger is available at a price of 7 million Euros.
In any case, if Suarez stays the real question is, do Liverpool really need these two Diegos as they already have enough depth in attacking positions?
