Chelsea to focus on Italian as Khedira wants Madrid StayEven before returning to Stamford Bridge, Jose Mourinho was reportedly interested in signing German star Khedira for Chelsea. The Portuguese manager always desires a top quality defensive midfielder in his setup and Khedira completely fits the bill, however he wants Madrid stay.
Hence, Chelsea are to focus on Italian Daniele De Rossi, who is nearing 30 but is a better player all round than Khedira. The Roma star has played for the capital club all his career and it will be hard for the blues to convince him to leave his beloved City. However in 12 years, De Rossi has only won 3 titles and he may have other ideas.
Although, one of Mourinho’s favorite CDM Michael Essien is already there at Chelsea but the departure of John Obi Mikel is a major possibility this summer and Jose wants to add another top quality defensive midfield player to the lineup for next season.
Khedira admired Mourinho but played down Chelsea interest and claimed that he is looking forward to play under new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti:

“I have enjoyed working with him (Jose) very much and rate him high,”
“Three years ago he handed me the chance to make the next step from Bundesliga to Real Madrid as young international. But I am contracted to Real and now I am first of all looking forward to working with Carlo Ancelotti.”

Roman Abramovich has already sanctioned deal for stars like Andre Schurrle and Marco van Ginkel, still Mourinho wants further reinforcements to challenge the Manchester clubs for the premier league crown next year.
Chelsea won their last league title three years ago in 2010 under the management of Carlo Ancelotti and for the past 2 years they have not even come close challenging for the title.
The 2006 World Cup winner De Rossi is a versatile talent who can add to defense as well as attack and he can be Chelsea’s marquee signing this summer.

  1. Chelsea have a packed midfield, if they are to splash out this season it should be for a class proven CF,but apparently Abramovich has had words with Mourinho and the cheque book is closed and he wants to see some results from the investment he has made in the youth system, now this not Mourinho’s style but he does have Lukaku who proved himself at West Brom, and now your talking about Khedira for Chelsea, but I cannot see it.Tika Musonda and his brother Lamisha are waiting in the wings and also Billy Clifford has proven himself on loan !!
