Will Spurs Finally Sign the Brazilian International?

Will Spurs Finally Sign the Brazilian International?Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur have lately made yet another move to sign Internacional striker Leandro Damiao. The club has approached him several times during the past few transfer seasons but failed to meet Internacional’s asking price. Will Spurs Finally be able to Sign the Brazilian International?
Andre Villas Boas’s has a quality squad at his disposal but one that is lacking a top quality striker upfront. The two main strikers Adebayor and Jermain Defoe could only score combined 15 leagues goals all season, not satisfactory.
The Brazilian international, Damiao was the top scorer at the summer Olympics last year and his performances in London eventually attracted interest from top clubs of Europe.
Spurs wanted him in both summer and winter transfer markets last season but failed to lure him to White Hart Lane. Now is the time, they must move to ensure that Damiao wears the white shirt next season.
According to the player’s agent, playing in next year’s World Cup is priority. Damiao will miss the upcoming Confederations Cup because of an injury as Jo replaced him in the Brazilian squad. The competition could have helped him impress the boss as well as amplify his value in Europe with top performances but that is not going to be the case.
Damiao’s agent claimed:

“Our idea is to always work with big clubs, all players dream of playing in the Champions League. But Tottenham are an important club in London, we can’t rule them out.”

Tottenham may as well be able to sign him for a reasonable sum after all. Although Spurs do not offer Champions League football, but proving himself in perhaps the toughest league in the world can surely ensure him a place in the Brazilian squad for next year’s World Cup.
Adding to that, signing Damiao will be massive boost for Spurs in their bid to finish in top 4 next season, especially if star player Gareth Bale also stays.
For now, Tottenham are favorites to land the Brazilian and no other club is reportedly that heavily interested in the player. The question still remains, will spurs finally sign Leandro Damiao, only time will tell but Villas-Boas must act rapidly and sign the 23 year old forward before other suitors turn up.

I have completely given up hope of ever signing Damiao. Daniel Levy just doesn’t have what it takes to bring a player like this to Tottenham. In all the transfer windows he has been in charge of recruiting players (self appointed) he has only, what I consider to be top class, brought in Van Der Vaart and Lloris. The rest are either his usual basement bargains or just good squad players which to me is a almost complete failure. The problem with Levy is that it is all about business. Any player he buys has to have a good sell on profit or it has to be a deal where he has screwed the selling team down to the floorboards. He never really considers what the team needs to go forward and case in point was the last window where he over-ruled AVB regarding Moutinho and Damiao even though he supposedly make bids which had no heart behind them and fucked up our Champions League place despite AVB getting record points. I really do feel sorry for AVB and the quicker we get someone else to do the transfer business the better and we let Levy do what he is best at…counting the pennies for the new stadium although we won’t have a team to play in it.

      This…I like this.
Although I am positive we will sign damiao this window, he has actually shown interest in joining us, and he’s not just a striker, he’s very good at laying off the ball to a passing teammate with his creative Brazilian flair. I look forward to this transfer window as a tottenham fan 🙂 but to Daniel levy, gtfo.

Do you not think that Spurs fans are sick to death of this story, this has been banded about now for about 2 years . Personally think this is just Levy trying to buy the fans off with saying that they are going to buy a major signing. Should have bought him last year and we were about 2 million short of the asking price but Levy would not pay this . Levy should now come out and tell us the truth if they are really interested , or is this just paper-talk. Do agree that we need probably to sign 2 strikers not 1 . After last season our 2 strikers Ade and Defoe coming up with dismal goals between them.
