The 9th Premier League round features another London derby. West Ham host Tottenham in a match which may be decisive for both teams’ season. While Tottenham try to secure the top 4 spot, West Ham have had a disappointing campaign so far.
An eventual win for any of the teams may change the route of their season and, as this is a derby, anything can happen.

West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. News

West Ham could not continue their winning streak in the last round and lost to Brighton as guests. On the other hand, Tottenham managed to grab the points versus Cardiff after a disappointing 2-4 loss to Barcelona 3 days earlier.
Both teams have issues with injuries and suspensions but managers will do their best to find the right fits for the missing players.
Andry Caroll, Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Javier Hernandez, Manuel Lanzini, and Winston Reid will miss the clash for the Hammers.
The Spurs will have to do without their most creative players – Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen, Serge Aurier, Vincent Janssen, and Michel Vorm will all miss the tie.

West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. United Head to Head

West Ham failed to keep a clean sheet against Tottenham in 3 successive games.
West Ham scored at least one goal against Tottenham in 8 successive games.
8 of Tottenham’s last 10 matches ended with more than 2.5 goals scored.
6 of Tottenham’s last 8 matches ended with both teams scoring.

West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Betting Tips

West Ham won 3 of their last 5 matches by a difference of 2 or more goals.
West Ham won just 2 of their 5 Premier League home games this season.
Tottenham lost just 4 of their last 28 Premier League matches.
Tottenham scored fewer than 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 visits versus West Ham in the Premier League.

West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Prediction

Tottenham come as the clear favourite not only because of the team’s ambitions but also because of West Ham’s average performance so far this season. A win for Tottenham is surely a reasonable bet (1.85 @ bet365). However, there are some more interesting options like away win and over 2.5 goals in the match or away win and both teams to score.
West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. away win (1.85 @ bet365)
West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. away win and over 2.5 goals scored in total (2.60 @ bet365)
West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. away win and both teams to score (3.60 @ bet365)

We will know the answer with certainty after this Saturday’s Premier League match between West Ham and Manchester United. The failure to go through to the next round in the midweek EFL fixture against Derby County increased the pressure on Manchester United’s manager.
The confrontation with Paul Pogba escalated after Mourinho’s decision to remove the player from captaincy. According to some reporters, the main reason for their conflict is Paul Pogba’s desire to join Barcelona during next winter’s transfer window. All this mess within the club makes the players feel nervy.
As opposed to United, West Ham’s manager Manuel Pellegrini has no such problems although the start of the season has been too weak for his team. The Hammers lost 4 consecutive games but an improvement was evident in their last 2 league clashes.

Key Players Missing

Andy Carroll, Jack Wilshere, and Winston Reid will not play due to injuries.
Marko Arnautovic and Chicharito are questionable for the hosts.
Marcos Rojo (knock injury) and Marcus Rashford (suspension) are missing for the visitors.

West Ham United vs. Manchester United Head to Head

10.05.18 EPL West Ham 0-0 Manchester United
13.08.17 EPL Manchester United 4-0 West Ham
02.01.17 EPL West Ham 0-2 Manchester United
30.11.16 EFL Manchester United 4-1 West Ham
27.11.16 EPL Manchester United 1-1 West Ham
10.05.16 EPL West Ham 3-2 Manchester United
Manchester United totally dominates in the matches between the two sides as they have won 31 out of 51 games. However, The Red Devils have snatched the victory only twice in the last 6 games at The Hammers’ stadium. The last West Ham home win took place on 10 May 2016. Only 3 of all their matches have finished goalless.

West Ham Team Form

26.09.18 EFL West Ham 8-0 Macclesfield
23.09.18 EPL West Ham 0-0 Chelsea
16.09.18 EPL Everton 1-3 West Ham
01.09.18 EPL West Ham 0-1 Wolves
28.08.18 EFL AFC Wimbledon 1-3 West Ham
25.08.18 EPL Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

Manchester United Team Form

25.09.18 EFL Manchester United 2-2 Derby County
22.09.18 EPL Manchester United 1-1 Wolves
19.09.18 UCL Young Boys 0-3 Manchester United
15.09.18 EPL Watford 1-2 Manchester United
02.09.18 EPL Burnley 0-2 Manchester United
27.08.18 EPL Manchester United 0-3 Tottenham
The hosts were on fire last night, scoring 8 undisputed goals against Macclesfield in the EFL fixture, but the team from League 2 is simply no match for the high-level clubs. Of course, there is a lot of inspiration in The Hammers’ squad now and they will try to bring it on the pitch in Saturday’s match. Manchester United need a win to keep the distance with the leaders of the table short.
We expect more defensive tactics by Jose Mourinho in this match, counting on Romelu Lukaku in front only as most probably Martial and Juan Mata will be replaced by Fred and Fellaini in the starting lineups, unlike their last match in the midweek against Derby County.

West Ham United vs. Manchester United Betting Tips

Both teams scored in 3 out of 6 West Ham league games in the current season. In 4 games, it was total goals over 2.5 goals and in 4 games, it was total goals over 1.5 goals. The average number of corners for/against per game is 3.67.

West Ham United vs. Manchester United Prediction

Our prediction is a draw.
West Ham – Manchester United X (3.60 @ bet365)
West Ham – Manchester United 1-1 (7.50 @ bet365)

West Ham United vs. Chelsea FC Odds

Nothing else than victory is expected from Chelsea. They lead the table with equal points to Liverpool and every mistake may cost them the leadership. On the other hand, West Ham started with 5 straight defeats and managed to beat the under-performing Everton in the last round.
Chelsea win – 1.45

West Ham United vs. Chelsea FC Head to Head

The last three matches between the two clubs were 2-1 for Chelsea, 1-0 for West Ham, and a 1-1 draw in April. However, the draw came in a moment when West Ham were extra motivated to stay in the Premier League (managed to stay with 42 points).
West Ham managed to win just 1 out of their last 6 home PL games.
Chelsea is on a 6 win streak in all competitions.
6 of the last 7 Chelsea matches ended with both teams scoring.

West Ham United vs. Chelsea FC News

Both teams come in the tie with almost full squad. However, some key players for both teams will miss the tie.
Cesc Fàbregas will be the big name missing the game for Chelsea. However, after the arrival of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, this gap is unlikely to be noticed.
Andy Carroll, Arthur Masuaku, Winston Reid, and Manuel Lanzini are the players who will miss the tie for West Ham.

West Ham United vs. Chelsea FC Predictions

Chelsea is expected to win but the odds for that are not so viable as they are guests.
5 out of the last 7 games between these two ended with more than 2.5 goals scored and both teams scored in 6 of the last 7.
West Ham scored in each of the last 7 clashes with Chelsea. This, in combination with Chelsea’s ambitions, makes both teams to score a very reasonable bet. Both teams to score and Chelsea win is an option for punters who are willing to risk more.
West Ham vs. Chelsea both teams to score – 1.70
West Ham vs. Chelsea both teams to score and over 2.5 goals – 1.95
Chelsea win and both teams to score – 2.87

West Ham United have landed their eighth recruit of the ongoing transfer window with Lucas Perez signing for them from Arsenal. The Spaniard barely featured for the Gunners in the Premier League with just two starts to his name, and he has now been offered a fresh opportunity in the English top-flight.
Back in the summer of 2016, Perez made the switch to north London from Deportivo La Coruna after the Gunners decided to trigger the release clause written into his contract. Shortly after, the British press termed him as the ‘Spanish Vardy’ after their failure to sign the original one from Leicester City but things thereafter did not go as planned for the forward.
Barring a couple of Premier League starts, Perez’s opportunities under ex-boss Arsene Wenger were restricted to the Cup and European competitions with his most notable feat being a Champions League hat-trick versus Basel, which should remain one of the highlights of his career.
The season afterwards, Perez was loaned back to Deportivo after he expressed his ambition to win a national team cap, but the move rather turned into a nightmare after the supporters called him a mercenary and criticised him for the club’s relegation from the Spanish top-flight.
With the new season beckoning, it had initially looked like Unai Emery could offer a second chance to Perez with the Gunners but after a couple of pre-season games, the Spaniard was nowhere to be seen, thus giving a clear indication that he was deemed surplus to requirements.
Perez has become the Hammers eighth signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Fabian Balbuena and Felipe Anderson. West Ham have now spent nearly £100m under the guidance of new head coach Manuel Pellegrini.

The England international has signed for the Hammers on a three-year deal after he decided against extending his stay with Arsenal.
Wilshere had an offer on the table which would have extended his Gunners stay beyond June 2018 but he had to decline the club’s approach after manager Unai Emery refused to assure him of regular gametime.
Shortly after, Fenerbahce had propped up the radar as one of Wilshere’s admirers but the 26-year-old has eventually decided to make the short trip across London to join Manuel Pellegrini’s team.
The Hammers have been keen on finishing most of their transfer business before the pre-season enters full throttle and so far, Pellegrini has found good success with the likes of Issa Diop, Ryan Fredericks and Lukasz Fabianski joining the club, apart from Wilshere.
Wilshere has had injury troubles over the course of his playing career which have hampered his progress but over the past two seasons, he has managed to stay relatively injury-free barring the leg fracture sustained on loan at Bournemouth in April 2017.
As such, the Hammers may have got themselves a major coup with Wilshere capable of playing in both the central midfield and attacking midfield positions but the latter could be the role he could occupy next term.
Over the past 18 months, Manuel Lanzini has been the preferred choice for the role just behind the main striker but the Hammers will have to contend without him next season after he suffered a serious knee injury.
The Argentine tore the anterior cruciate ligaments of his right knee during a training session with the national team ahead of the World Cup and the injury may cost him an entire season to recover.

West Ham United played out a goalless draw against Manchester United in their penultimate game of the Premier League season. Jose Mourinho’s side had the better chances to find the scoresheet during the match but ultimately, they had to settle for a stalemate with Hammers goalkeeper Adrian making a couple of match-defining saves.

Three things we learned:
Jose Mourinho achieves his season ambition: Right from the turn of the year, Mourinho had highlighted the need for United to finish as the second-best side behind Manchester City. As such, the Portuguese set up his side in a more defensive manner with a 5-3-2 formation and this absorbed the little threat offered from the Hammers frontline. With the draw, United have clinched the runner-up spot for the campaign and Mourinho may now offer the weekend off to his first-team regulars with the FA Cup final in mind.
Anthony Martial’s future remains uncertain: Prior to the game, we had predicted that Martial could face a season-defining game at the London Stadium but the Frenchman never made the playing field. Martial had been particularly average during the 1-0 defeat to Brighton last week and Mourinho decided against utilising his services versus the Hammers. Martial has endured a difficult period since Mourinho’s reliance on Alexis Sanchez on the left wing and the Frenchman now needs to find a way of winning back the Portuguese’s confidence.
West Ham put in another resolute display against the top six: The Hammers may possess the second-worst defensive record in the division but they have done credibly against the top-six teams in their home patch. Since the turn of the year, the east London outfit have hosted four of the top six at the London Stadium and they have succumbed to only a solitary defeat against Manchester City. Besides this, they have secured goalless draws against Manchester United and Arsenal whilst bagging a rather surprise 1-0 triumph over Chelsea.

The Hammers ensured their league safety after beating Leicester City last weekend and this makes the game a relative dead rubber, though the hosts will want to put a strong showing against Jose Mourinho’s side.

Injury Update:
West Ham United:
Speaking in the lead-up to the United game, David Moyes confirmed that Joe Hart has recovered from an illness which kept him out of the Leicester triumph. However, the Scot did not confirm where Adrian would hand over the number one after impressing with a shutout at the King Power Stadium. Aside from this, there have been not much positive in the injury front with Javier Hernandez still struggling with a knee problem. Sam Byram, Michail Antonio and Winston Reid remain long-term absentees for the Hammers.
Manchester United:
Comparing to West Ham, United are better placed in terms of injuries with none of the players on the long-term absentee list. Nevertheless, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Belgian duo Romelu Lukaku (ankle) and Marouane Fellaini (muscular injury) won’t feature at the London Stadium. Meanwhile, on the positive note, Alexis Sanchez and Phil Jones have rejoined their teammates in training after recovering from their respective knocks and they could make the matchday squad on Thursday night.
Prediction:
On paper, Manchester United have a team capable of outwitting West Ham United but their away form has been patchy against lower-table clubs. Just when United seek to maintain their winning momentum, they tend to come up with average performances and we are fancying West Ham to get at least a point from the game.
West Ham United 2-2 Manchester United

The Hammers secured their Premier League safety against Leicester City during the previous weekend and they should play with much more freedom against Jose Mourinho’s men.
United have been placed second in the standings for most of the campaign and they can assure themselves of the runner-up spot by acquiring at least one point from their next two league matches.
Players to watch for:
Marko Arnautovic – West Ham United: The Austria international struggled to make an impression during the initial months of the campaign and there were suggestions that he could drop further down the pecking order. However, the former Stoke City man has since made the most of his opportunities and he has contributed 10 goals and five assists for the Hammers. United have had issues especially in the full-back positions of late and Arnautovic’s excellent dribbling and hold-up play could make him a menace. Arnautovic also has the tendency to try long-shots, though it would take some effort to beat the brilliant David de Gea from a distance.
Anthony Martial – Manchester United: Unlike Arnautovic, Martial has experienced an exact opposite of form since February. The France international had a strong month of January where he had scored in three straight league appearances but he has since dropped down the pecking order to accommodate Alexis Sanchez on the left wing. Nevertheless, Martial has not impressed in the minimal starts offered and he was the subject of criticism from Mourinho for a sub-par performance in the Brighton defeat. Martial may feature from the bench versus the Hammers on Thursday and his showing could make or break his United career which is apparently on the fringes.
Prediction:
West Ham United 2-2 Manchester United

Next up, the Reds will collide against West Ham United in the Premier League and at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s men should be considered favorites to earn all three points. Earlier in the season, the Merseysiders defeated West Ham 4-1 at the Olympic Stadium.
As far as the team news is concerned, Liverpool players have got ample rest after their Champions League contest against Porto and we can expect Klopp to start the strongest possible side vs the Hammers.
In the attacking third, Roberto Firmino should start as the lone center forward up front and behind him, the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah should start in the wide offensive positions.
German international Emre Can could return to start in the midfield. He might replace James Milner to start with Wijnaldum and skipper Henderson in the center of the park.
As far as the back line is concerned, Joel Matip should replace Lovren to partner Van Dijk in the central defense. On the other hand, Jose Gomez may get the nod to start in the right back position.
Here is how Liverpool should line up against West Ham United.
Last night, we covered a report (via The Sun) claiming that the German boss wants to sign West Ham star Manuel Lanzini to replace Coutinho.
The Argentine star has been able to impress for the Hammers in the PL but playing for a big club like Liverpool is going to be a completely different story. He has only managed to score just once in 15 games this season and is not good enough to replace Liverpool’s little magician.
In my opinion, Liverpool must sign a proven quality star and someone as versatile as Julian Draxler will perfectly fit the bill. Back in November, it was reported (via L’Equipe) that Liverpool made contact to lure the German international.
The PSG playmaker won the World Cup in 2014 and led the national side to victory in the Confederations Cup last year. Like Coutinho, Draxler is naturally an attacking playmaker but this season, he has mainly played effectively in the central midfield.
In 14 starts for the French giants, the 24-year-old Kaiser has so far scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists. His pace and trickery to beat defenders and the ability to hold on to the ball under pressure in the attacking third makes him the perfect player to replace Phil.
As per reports (The Sun), PSG are prepared to let him leave for a fee worth 40 million pounds ($54million) and Liverpool have to splash the cash to agree his signing if Coutinho departs.
