The Gunners might be without star playmaker Alexis Sanchez, who has been their best player in the current campaign.
The Chilean international scored the third goal for Arsenal against Stoke City at the weekend and a minute later, he limped off the field due to a thigh concern. According to PhysioRoom, the former Barca star is expected to be out of the game vs the Black Cats.
On the other hand (Mirror), Arsene Wenger is hoping that Sanchez will be fit for the contest against the relegated side. In his absence, we can expect Theo Walcott to return to the starting XI and partner Ozil behind Welbeck.
Welsh star Aaron Ramsey may also return to partner Granit Xhaka in the central midfield for the North Londoners.

Liverpool have kept two clean sheets in the last two league games but they still need to make major reinforcements in the defensive department to progress next season.
Jurgen Klopp has failed to solve the defensive dilemma at Anfield even after signing two new center halves and a new goalie last summer.
As far as the goalkeeping situation is concerned, Karius was average and was soon ousted from the starting XI. Simon Mignolet has proved to be a quality goalie in the recent weeks but the Reds still need to sign a consistent performer between the sticks and once again Jordan Pickford is linked.
The Merseysiders were interested in signing the 23-year-old star in the January transfer window as well (Daily Star) and now, reports suggest that they are seriously eyeing to finally sign him in the summer transfer window (Telegraph).
The England international has been the best player for Sunderland this season but unfortunately, he could not help the team survive relegation. With the interest so heavy, the Black Cats will most likely sell him but they want a huge fee for their prized asset.
Recently, David Moyes has claimed that Pickford will only leave the club for a huge price (Sunderland Echo). He stated:

“If he goes – then it would need to be a really, really big price. It would not be a cheap price if anybody wants Jordan Pickford.”

The former Manchester United boss also praised the goalie and claimed

“I think Jordan is a big, big talent, I really do.”

Jordan’s current contract with Sunderland will expire in 2020 and as per the provided Telegraph link, an offer worth 25 million pounds plus bonuses would be hard to reject for the relegated side.
Arsenal’s victory over West Ham last night meant that the Gunners are once again above the Red Devils (on GD).
As far as Man United’s team news is concerned, Jose Mourinho opted to keep more than a few star players on the bench against the Toffees in the midweek contest. Expect the stars to return to the starting XI vs the Black Cats.
Valencia was rested in the last game and he should return to replace Ashley Young in the starting XI. The Ecuardoian international should start with the likes of Rojo, Bailly and Blind in the back line in front of De Gea.
Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick may start in the center of the park for the Red Devils. In the attack, Mkhitaryan, Martial and record signing Paul Pogba should start behind lone striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Liverpool need a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, that much is evident after the inconsistent performances of Karius and Mignolet.
Klopp must solve the goalkeeping conundrum once and for all and reports have linked Liverpool with numerous goalies.
Back in November 2016 (Star), the Reds were linked with £20m rated ($25million) Sunderland shot stopper Jordan Pickford. If the latest reports are anything to go by then Liverpool are seriously eyeing the 22-year-old player.
According to Telegraph, City are interested in signing Pickford, Liverpool are also regularly scouting the England international but they may move to sign Joe Hart next summer.
Hart has won the PL Golden Glove award four times but last season he was way too inconsistent for the Sky Blues and new boss Guardiola opted to loan him out to Torino last summer.
On the other hand, Pickford has been one of the best goalies in the Premier League this season in spite of playing in a relegation threatened team with a poor back line. Moyes highly rates the youngster and heavily praised him by starting (Telegraph):

“I’ve said before, in the process of building a club up, you have to sell people, but I hope it’s not Jordan. He’s been exceptional and most people see him as one of the brightest young talents around.”

Liverpool need a goalkeeper for the long term and Joe is past his best. On the other hand, Pickford’s best years are ahead of him.
Therefore, the former Borussia Dortmund boss must splash the cash to sign Pickford in the summer transfer window. Stats provided below also depict that Jordan has played better than Hart, who is in more of a defense minded league.
In your opinion, should Liverpool sign Pickford or Hart?
The Reds are now 5 points behind Chelsea who have the chance to stretch the difference to 8 points when they face Tottenham tomorrow night.
The Merseysiders badly missed skipper Jordan Henderson who has been in top form and mainly played in the defensive midfield role.
In his absence, German international Emre Can played as the holding midfielder and the former Bayern Munich midfielder put in a terrible performance.
Can was criticized a lot by the supporters on social media but he was not alone. Liverpool’s current longest serving player Lucas was slated as well.
The Brazilian international was probably important 5-6 years ago. In recent years, he has been notorious for gifting opposition teams needless free kicks in dangerous positions.
Yesterday, with 12 minutes remaining, Lucas was brought on in place of Sturridge to provide defensive cover but he failed big time.
Moreover, whether or not he touched Defoe, he was still responsible for the foul that gave Sunderland a late free kick just outside the box.
Liverpool fans want him out of the club as soon as possible. Here are few reactions on twitter.

This will be Sadio Mane’s last game for the Reds before leaving for the African Cup of Nations. The Senegalese international starts with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge in the attack.
The former Chelsea striker has normally warmed the bench and starts his 5th game of the Premier League this season.
The England international has replaced captain Jordan Henderson in the starting lineup. Hendo suffered an injury against Manchester City and is not part of the squad against the Black Cats.
In the absence of Jordan, Adam Lallana has moved back into the midfield and will partner the likes of Can and Wijnaldum in the center of the park. The German international is expected to start in the holding midfield role today.
Here is Liverpool’s confirmed starting XI formation vs Sunderland.
Chelsea still maintain a six point advantage over the Merseysiders but Klopp’s men can close the gap to three points by beating Sunderland tomorrow.
Next up, the Blues have a tough fixture against Tottenham away from home and it will not be surprising if their winning run came to an end at White Hart Lane.
As far as Liverpool’s team news is concerned, captain Jordan Henderson suffered a heel injury against the Citizens and should be out of the game against the Black Cats.
Expect Divock Origi to return to the starting XI for the Reds in place of the skipper. The Belgian international scored the crucial opener vs Sunderland at Anfield not so long ago and should start in the attack with Firmino and Mane.
Lallana will probably get back into the midfield and partner Wijnaldum and Can. Here is Klopp’s probable 4-3-3 Liverpool XI vs Sunderland.

Manchester United defeated Sunderland 3-1 at Old Trafford and summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were both on the score sheet.
The former Dortmund playmaker scored a wonder goal against Tottenhem Hotspur few weeks back but suffered an ankle injury in the same fixture.
The Armenian international recovered and returned for the Red Devils yesterday and scored an even better goal.
Mkhitaryan was introduced by Mourinho in the 63rd minute of the game when the Red Devils were leading 1-0. Twenty minutes later, Zlatan doubled the lead and in the 86th minute, he provided a wonder ball to set up Mkhitaryan’s goal.
The ball was behind the 27-year-old attacker who scored with his heel in an acrobatic fashion (Should have been offside). Later, Henrikh told MUTV:

“That was the best goal I’ve ever scored”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is renowned for scoring outrageous goals and throughout his career, he has scored some unbelievable goals. Not to forget, he won the Puskas award for his overhead strike against England. Back in 2013, he scored a stunning heel goal against Bastia.
The Swedish superstar was impressed by Mkhitaryan’s effort but his reaction was as usual tongue-in-cheek arrogant. Zlatan claimed:

“Mkhitaryan is the king of the heel, but I am the God of the heel”

The Red Devils have finally found form under the management of Jose Mourinho and a relegation threatened Sunderland side will find it really hard to trouble United away from home.
As far as the team news is concerned, the likes of Mkhitaryan and Bailly are expected to return (via PhysioRoom) for Man United to face the Black Cats.
Lingard was brilliant for United in the last fixture against the Baggies, however, if Mkhitaryan is fit enough to start then it will be no surprise if Mourinho selects him ahead of the England international.
Captain Wayne Rooney has been inconsistent but may get the nod to start again. Here is Man Utd’s strongest possible XI vs Sunderland.

Man Untied are slowly but surely returning to form under the management of Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils have won their last four games (last three in the Premier League) and will face Sunderland next on Boxing day.
Mourinho’s men should be considered favorites to beat the relegation threatened David Moyes’ men who won their last game against Watford at the weekend.
Manchester United are 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea and 4 points behind Arsenal who currently occupy the final CL qualification place.
At the moment, Manchester United have four players out injured in the form of Luke Shaw (Knock), James Wilson (ACL Knee Injury), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Ankle Injury) and Eric Bailly (Knee Injury).
United may get a huge boost for the game against Sunderland as two star players are expected to return.
According to PhysioRoom, summer signings Mkhitaryan and Bailly (Slight Doubt) are expected to recover and be fit to face the Black Cats on 26th December.
The Ivorian defender has already missed ten games this season due to injuries and United need his quality at the back big time. On the other hand, the Armenian attacker found it hard to settle under Mourinho but he has been influential recently.
