Napoli have reportedly acquired the services of goalkeeper David Ospina from Arsenal on a temporary basis. The Colombian had become the Gunners’ third-choice goalkeeper following the arrival of Bernd Leno this summer and this has eventually urged him to secure a fresh challenge elsewhere.
According to The Guardian, the Naples outfit have signed the £40,000-a-week shot-stopper on a season-long loan with the obligation to buy at the end of the forthcoming campaign. The Colombian is expected to fulfil the void left by Pepe Reina’s departure to AC Milan and this should assure him of the regular gametime, he has been craving for in recent seasons.
Earlier this summer, the Naples outfit had recruited goalkeepers Alex Meret and Orestis Karnezis on temporary deals from Udinese and the former was widely expected by many to take up the first-choice goalkeeping duties for the 2018/19 season. However, his ambition was shortlived after he broke his arm in just the second day of pre-season and this may have proved the key cause behind Napoli’s decision to land Ospina.
Meanwhile, at Arsenal, Petr Cech has claimed the number one role under Unai Emery despite widespread suggestions that Leno could start between the sticks. The German had shared the goalkeeping duties with Cech during the course of pre-season but Emery is seemingly prepared to wait longer before introducing the 26-year-old to the rigours of the Premier League.
Arsenal begun their campaign with a rather disappointing 2-0 loss at the hands of Manchester City but they should be aiming to bounce back when they take on Chelsea on the road this weekend. The Capital outfit have competed effectively against the Blues since May 2017 with not a single competitive defeat and this should give them the motivation for Sunday’s London derby.

The stakes are naturally high for traditional soccer behemoths like Brazil, Germany and France, and betting on either one of these teams is very likely to produce the expected dividends, however, putting all your money on the favorites is a sure way to quickly exhaust your bankroll and collect minimum wins, if any at all in the end; on the other hand, making a wise dark horse pick could eventually signify tremendous wins with the smallest possible risk.
The beautiful but unpredictable game
Football fanatics are well aware of the random and unexpected outcome of soccer matches, deriving from unforeseen tactical difficulties, an overgrown sense of confidence in one’s team, or the very common occurrence of in-game expulsion or a penalty shoot. In either case, it is important to keep in mind that the best reputations and performance records matter little when well-established teams are faced with an unknown foe, as it often occurs during the running of each FIFA World Cup edition; squads accustomed to a certain type of competition level in their respective areas lose their edge before relative unknowns from distant parts of the globe. We will take this opportunity to analyze the latest odds charts and infer the best underdog picks from among the entire board.
Strong Hopefuls and Farfetched Picks
Situated within close range of the top favorites for the tournament we find Belgium, expected to become England’s main adversary in a group that also includes Tunisia and newcomer Panama. Eden Hazard’s team has already received the support of many betting professionals, who envision a possible upset run for the Red Devils. The current odds for Belgium range between the 10 and 12 to 1. Tournament host Russia also makes an interesting undercard choice with 40 to 1 odds; even though Kokorin’s team lacks the overall quality of other ensembles, the sheer size of the local support could easily propel them to new and unexpected heights. Make sure to seize upon the best world cup betting offers and ready up your betting account in time for the opening ceremony. With a tournament this heated, though, be extra careful to make sure that you bet as smartly and as responsibly as possible. It’s easier than ever to actually bet on your favorite game but it’s also easier than ever to properly research the teams and players to make sure that you’re not just randomly throwing the dice on a team you happen to like. Do some careful research, though, and you’re far more likely to make strategic bets on those who might actually win.
Further down the list of nation team prospects we find James Rodriguez’ Colombia at 40 to 1. The South American team is widely envisaged to lead a group that is also composed by Poland, Japan and Senegal. Group F’s Mexico fell under Costa Rica during the qualification phase, entering the tournament as second best in its region, nevertheless, the Tricolor can be expected to pick the pieces of their recent record to deliver a wholesome performance in Russia. Javier Hernandez and crew are listed at 100 to 1 odds. Appearing near the end of the World Cup betting odds we can spot Egypt and Costa Rica, two teams who have often provided adrenaline-style breakthroughs in previous instances; the odds for both these nations are 150 to 1 and 500 to 1 respectively.

However, star playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, started and captained Armenia in the last night’s victory over Kazakhstan.
The former Borussia Dortmund star was arguably the best player on the field and scored the crucial opening goal of the game to give his side the lead in the World Cup qualification game.
The deadlock was broken in the 73rd minute of the game. Mkhitaryan received the ball on the edge of the box, went past one player and slotted the ball in the net with a sublime finish.
Two minutes later, Oezbiliz doubled the lead and secured the victory for the home side. The video of Mkhitaryan’s goal is provided below.

Last night, Liverpool stars Firmino and Coutinho started for Brazil in the World Cup qualifying game against Uruguay and helped the team win the contest.
The duo were involved in their team’s second goal. Philippe found the ball on the right wing, eased past one defender and then passed the ball to Firmino.
Roberto brilliantly turned and drilled a left footed shot, which rebounded in the path of Paulinho, who made no mistake in slotting the ball home.
The Samba stars came from behind to win 4-1 on the night. Neymar scored one and the former Tottenham midfielder netted a hat-trick to earn all three points for the visitors. The Selecao are leading the WC qualification table with 30 points in 13 games.

Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has finally decided to retire from international football and focus on the club.
Although Stevie G ended his England career in the worst possible manner with the disaster world cup campaign in Brazil and has earned hell lot of criticism, still he has been the best player for his country in big tournaments of the past decade (post Euro 2004).
Reds skipper has never been as influential for his national side as he has been for Liverpool but that has been the case with most stars and for England, perhaps with every star.
World Cup 2006
England were knocked out in the quarter final by Portugal on penalties. Gerrard ended the tournament as the leading goalscorer for his side with 2 goals, scoring against Trinidad & Tobago and Sweden in the Group stages.
Having said that, David Beckham and Owen Hargreaves were arguably more influential than Gerrard.
Euro 2008
The three lions did not even qualify for the European Championships of 2008 under the horrific management of Steve Mclaren. Obviously the blame falls on all the England players for being average in the qualifying campaign.
World Cup 2010
Gerrard was handed the captain’s armband as Rio Ferdinand limped off injured before the start of their tournament and the Liverpool superstar led from the front. Steive scored an early goal, only to be undone by a clumsy mistake by Green to let USA equalize.
England’s attack was non-existent with Wayne Rooney arguably the single worst player of the tournament. They were eliminated in Round of 16 netting just 3 goals in the competition with Gerrard scoring and assisting one (Upson v Germany).
Euro 2012
England had to make do with a late managerial change as Hodgson was appointed before the tournament and named Gerrard as the captain. Stevie was the combined leading assist provider of the tournament with Arshavin, Silva and Ozil assisting 3 goals.
Gerrard provided assist in every group game for the three lions and was the only English player to make the team of the tournament.
World Cup 2014
Without doubt, one of the worst ever World Cup campaigns for England and Gerrard was surprisingly woeful after a brilliant season with the Reds. Then again, there wasn’t any hit for the three lions in this disastrous tournament.
As far as England is concerned, the term “Best” should not really be used because majority have under-performed over the years and so did the nation. “Better than the rest” would suit and in the big tournaments of the past decade, Gerrard has been exactly that.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the best team eventually won the game’s biggest prize but the South Americans did put a up a brilliant fight.
The competition has produced many surprises and top performances which makes the team of the tournament selection somewhat complex but here are names who make our team.
Goalie
There were more than a few world class performers as far as goalkeeping is concerned but Neuer wins the place with the Germans winning the ultimate prize and Bayern star was arguably the best goalie in the knockout rounds.
Defense
Having played the first four games as a midfielder, Lahm was shifted back to fullback position in the quarterfinals and from then onwards was perhaps flawless. Borussia Dortmund center half Mats Hummels was perhaps the best defender in the competition. Not only was he solid at the back, but also scored two crucial goals for his side as well.
Joining him in the central defense is Costa Rica star Giancarlo Gonzalez. The North Americans conceded only a single goal from open play and kept clean sheets against teams like England, Italy and Netherlands. All down to brilliant defense and Gonzalez was at the heart.
Dutch star Blind rose to fame in the first game against Spain, not for his defensive strength but his two brilliant passes that set up goals for Van Persie and Robben. Netherlands conceded only a single goal in the KO rounds and Blind was strong as ever.
Midfield
There was no better defensive midfielder than Argentine Javier Mascherano. Played mostly as a center back for Barcelona all season with no consistency at the back, Masch produced stunning performances to take pressure off defense that was considered weak before the start of the tournament. By far, he was the best Argentine player in the World Cup.
Toni Kroos and Bastian Schweinsteiger were the main reason why Germany dominated midfield battle against every team and although the former played better in the quarter and semi finals, Schweni makes our list for his outstanding display in the final. Kroos was off his game while Schweinsteiger provided the much needed leadership in the midfield.
Attack
As an individual, there was no better player than James Rodriguez. Won the golden boot with 6 goals. Sadly, Colombians lost in the quarter finals or else he might have won the Golden Ball as well. Arjen Robben was the standout attacker for Netherlands, especially in the KO rounds where other experienced Dutch players were far from their best.
Messi won the player of the tournament prize. Whether he deserved it or not is another argument but the captain lead from the front. He won four man of the match awards in the first four games and was easily the best Argentine playmaker and deserves his place in the team of the tournament.
German forward Muller makes the list as a lone forward. Once again, the Bayern star netted 5 goals in the World Cup, also provided 3 assists as well. Technically not considered amongst the very best but without doubt the most effective player who always turned up.

Four years ago, the World Cup final was stuck in a similar scenario as last night. Then Andres Iniesta scored a late goal in the second ET half of extra time to win it for Spain, this time it was Mario Gotze who scored wonder goal for the Germans.
Germany were by far the best team of the competition and deservedly rule the world again, for the fourth time in the history.
Argentina knew that they cannot take the Kaisers head on in attack and Sabella had his tactics spot on from the first minute.
The South Americans set up an organized defense to stop German surge from the center and the Europeans mainly had to work their way out from the flanks. Moreover, Argentina played an effective counter attacking football.
As expected, Germany dominated possession with Schweinsteiger pulling the strings in the central midfield but Argentina had the better chances.
Higuain failed to bury his one on one chance early in the first half. Messi found an opening he normally scores with Barcelona but shot wide and Palacio had a brilliant chance to settle the game in extra time.
However, it had to be Germany to finally provide the killer blow. Argentina back-line went to sleep for a moment and Gotze took advantage by losing his marker, controlled Schurrle’s ball and scored a sublime goal worthy of winning any game.
Germans held on in the dying minutes. Argentina’s last hope was from a 30 yard set piece but Messi blew it away with a terrible free kick.
Having lost 3 major semi-fianls and two finals in the last 12 years, it is about time that the Kaisers become world champions.
A fitting way to end a legendary career for Miroslav Klose, however, this squad is ready to rule world football in the years to come.
Congratulations Germany – The World Champions
