Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly emerged as the front runner to succeed Arsene Wenger as the next Arsenal manager. The 50-year-old is currently contracted to the Bianconeri until June 2020 but he has previously talked about the possibility of a Premier League move.
According to The Mirror, Allegri has jumped ahead of Luis Enrique in the Gunners’ managerial list and the club have a ’50/50′ of pursuing his services at the end of the campaign.
Allegri has previously hinted that he would fancy a future challenge in England but the Gunners are unlikely to have an easy route to his signature considering Juventus are planning to reward him with a new contract.
The Bianconeri have literally won another Scudetto after Napoli’s collapse in recent weeks and the club are supposedly planning contract talks following the midweek Coppa Italia final against AC Milan.
Arsenal have been on the search for a new head coach since Arsene Wenger announced that he would be leaving the Emirates during the summer and the club have since been associated with a number of managers, most commonly in Enrique.
The ex-Barcelona coach is seemingly keen on showcasing his managerial abilities in the English top-flight but so far, the Gunners have been reluctant to commit to his staggering wage demands of £15m-a-year after tax.
Wenger won’t be able to celebrate trophy success with the Gunners after recent Europa League semi-final exit to Atletico Madrid but he has nevertheless managed to go on a high at the Emirates, where Arsenal picked up a 5-0 triumph over Burnley on Sunday.
The victory assures them of the sixth position in the standings, something which they won’t be proud about, but the future on the club could be interesting with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Konstantinos Mavropanos exciting the faithful.

The stage for the upcoming Russia World Cup is receiving the last finishing touches, and sports betting sites all over the world already feature outright win odds for each one of the 32 teams involved in the competition.
The stakes are naturally high for traditional soccer behemoths like Brazil, Germany and France, and betting on either one of these teams is very likely to produce the expected dividends, however, putting all your money on the favorites is a sure way to quickly exhaust your bankroll and collect minimum wins, if any at all in the end; on the other hand, making a wise dark horse pick could eventually signify tremendous wins with the smallest possible risk.
The beautiful but unpredictable game
Football fanatics are well aware of the random and unexpected outcome of soccer matches, deriving from unforeseen tactical difficulties, an overgrown sense of confidence in one’s team, or the very common occurrence of in-game expulsion or a penalty shoot. In either case, it is important to keep in mind that the best reputations and performance records matter little when well-established teams are faced with an unknown foe, as it often occurs during the running of each FIFA World Cup edition; squads accustomed to a certain type of competition level in their respective areas lose their edge before relative unknowns from distant parts of the globe. We will take this opportunity to analyze the latest odds charts and infer the best underdog picks from among the entire board.
Strong Hopefuls and Farfetched Picks
Situated within close range of the top favorites for the tournament we find Belgium, expected to become England’s main adversary in a group that also includes Tunisia and newcomer Panama. Eden Hazard’s team has already received the support of many betting professionals, who envision a possible upset run for the Red Devils. The current odds for Belgium range between the 10 and 12 to 1. Tournament host Russia also makes an interesting undercard choice with 40 to 1 odds; even though Kokorin’s team lacks the overall quality of other ensembles, the sheer size of the local support could easily propel them to new and unexpected heights. Make sure to seize upon the best world cup betting offers and ready up your betting account in time for the opening ceremony. With a tournament this heated, though, be extra careful to make sure that you bet as smartly and as responsibly as possible. It’s easier than ever to actually bet on your favorite game but it’s also easier than ever to properly research the teams and players to make sure that you’re not just randomly throwing the dice on a team you happen to like. Do some careful research, though, and you’re far more likely to make strategic bets on those who might actually win.
Further down the list of nation team prospects we find James Rodriguez’ Colombia at 40 to 1. The South American team is widely envisaged to lead a group that is also composed by Poland, Japan and Senegal. Group F’s Mexico fell under Costa Rica during the qualification phase, entering the tournament as second best in its region, nevertheless, the Tricolor can be expected to pick the pieces of their recent record to deliver a wholesome performance in Russia. Javier Hernandez and crew are listed at 100 to 1 odds. Appearing near the end of the World Cup betting odds we can spot Egypt and Costa Rica, two teams who have often provided adrenaline-style breakthroughs in previous instances; the odds for both these nations are 150 to 1 and 500 to 1 respectively.

The Belgium international has been a frequent goalscorer for the Naples outfit and he has amassed 56 goals since the start of the previous campaign.
According to The Sun, the Red Devils have enquired over the possibility of signing the 31-year-old attacker after knowing of the £25m release clause attached to his present contract.
Mertens was initially a winger by trade following his arrival at Napoli from PSV in 2013 and it was not until the previous campaign when he managed to improve on his goalscoring.
Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri had witnessed the departure of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus in the summer of 2016 and this was soon followed by a long-term injury to new signing Arkadiusz Milik.
As a result, the Italian head coach opted to utilise Mertens in a centre-forward position and the Belgian has since transformed into one of the Serie A’s most successful goal-getters behind only Edin Dzeko.
Manchester United are currently comfortably placed in terms of their options in the attack but there could be tempted to do business during the summer, should one of their fringe players move on.
The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have received limited gametime since the winter arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and the latter’s future has particularly come under question over the past few weeks.
Both Juventus and Barcelona have been touted as possible contenders to prise away Martial from Old Trafford during the summer and this could turn into a possibility, should he continue to be starved of regular gametime.
Meanwhile, Mertens’s possible arrival could increase the creativity within the United forward ranks with the player more fond of playing with compatriot Lukaku in the Belgium national setup.
The pair have combined for a number of occasions under the tutelage of Roberto Martinez and he could emerge as an effective signing in the second striker role where Jesse Lingard has been inconsistent with his performances this term.

Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is reportedly keen on acquiring the services of defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season. The Gunners are due to part ways with manager Arsene Wenger during the summer and his departure is likely to coincide with a major defensive overhaul.
According to The Independent, Mislintat is working with the Gunners’ head of football relations Raul Sanllehi in order to rebuild the backline which is likely to include a younger replacement for goalkeeper Petr Cech.
It is added that the north London club have identified Sokratis as one of their prime defensive targets and they could make an approach when the transfer window reopens in a couple of months’ time.
Arsenal’s defence has struggled to keep clean sheets during the second half of the campaign and much of their troubles have existed at the heart of the backline where Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny have underperformed.
Moreover, Koscielny has most recently sustained a long-term Achilles problem and this is likely to intensify the club’s pursuit for a new centre-back in the upcoming transfer window.
The Gunners players had hoped to end Wenger’s final season on a high with a trophy but it was not to be after they were ousted by Atletico Madrid by a 2-1 aggregate in the Europa League semi-final.
Despite this, there is still plenty of stake in the final month of the season and the club cannot afford to drop further down the Premier League table with just three games left under Wenger’s management.
Arsenal are currently three points ahead of Burnley in the pursuit of the sixth position and a home win over the Clarets on Sunday would certainly seal the spot ahead of their remaining two fixtures on the road, where they have yet to pick up a point in 2018.

Manchester United make the trip to the south Coast to face Brighton & Hove Albion in Friday’s Premier League game. The Red Devils are firmly placed in the second position in the standings and they can genuinely seal the runner-up spot with a victory over Chris Hughton’s side.

Formation: 4-3-3
Lineup:
David de Gea could not extend his clean sheet against the Gunners last weekend but he will want a better performance from his defence this time around. The Spaniard has attained 17 shutouts in the league this term and he is currently just one ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson in the ‘Golden Glove’ race.
In defence, Jose Mourinho may stick with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young in the right and left-back positions respectively whilst Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling should reclaim their places at the heart of the backline. Ivorian centre-back Eric Bailly has been ignored from the starting lineup of late and this should remain the case on Friday with Mourinho confirming his intention of helping players vying for World Cup spots.
In midfield, the Portuguese may not opt for any kind of rotations with his players and we are anticipating Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba to maintain their spots. Pogba, in particular, has flourished on the left side of a midfield three, and he has contributed at least a goal or assist in four of his previous five appearances.
In the attack, United are expected to be without Romelu Lukaku, who is currently receiving treatment on an ankle problem sustained against Arsenal. In this case, Anthony Martial could get the nod to start up front with Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford strong candidates to flank him. As such, Jesse Lingard should drop to the bench after a below-par showing against a weakened Gunners lineup.

Belgium international Marouane Fellaini is reportedly prepared for a last round of contractual negotiations with Manchester United. The 30-year-old current’s deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign but manager Jose Mourinho is seemingly desperate to prolong the midfielder’s stay.
According to The Times, United have currently placed a one-year deal on the table for Fellaini with the option of a 12-month extension under their requirement. However, the midfielder is not so keen on the offer, and he is prepared to re-negotiate a fresh two-year deal worth £100,000-a-week.
Fellaini has been linked with the likes of Besiktas and Paris Saint-Germain over the past few weeks but the Belgian still has the ambition to stay put as visualised during the recent Premier League game against Arsenal.
The midfielder was brought onto the pitch to provide an aerial threat against a young Gunners central defence and he managed to repay the manager’s faith by scoring late – after which he grabbed the club’s crest whilst celebrating.
Mourinho has since suggested that the club are close to wrapping up an agreement and this should, in turn, witness the hierarchy breaking away from their contractual policy for experienced players.
As per the club’s rule, no player aged above 30 is rewarded with more than a year’s extension but they now face the expulsion of giving up on this policy or else Fellaini could be walking away on a free transfer.
Most of the club’s faithful would not be worried about the midfielder’s situation but the Belgian remains a valuable plan B for Mourinho when things are not going for his United side.
Fellaini offers an imminent threat in the box with his strong heading ability and his presence has encouraged United’s use of the long-ball approach which proved worthwhile against Arsene Wenger’s side on Sunday.

The Belgium international has barely featured for Spurs since his recovery from a hamstring injury in February and his position at the club remains in doubt beyond the summer.
According to The Sun, the Blues are looking to take advantage of Alderweireld’s contractual situation in order to lure him to Stamford Bridge. The versatile defender presently has just 14 months left on his existing deal but his reluctance to extend his contract has seemingly put Spurs in a predicament.
As per The Sun, the Blues are prepared to lodge a bid of around £45m for the former Ajax graduate and this may entice Spurs into a sale despite the rivalry between the London clubs. Mauricio Pochettino’s side do have the option of triggering a 12-month extension clause in Alderweireld’s contract but this would, in turn, activate a £25m release clause which would stay active for 14 days after the close of the 2018/19 season.
Apart from Chelsea, there has also been interest from the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City but the latter appear to have ended their pursuit following their club-record signing of Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao during the January transfer window.
Alderweireld has been key towards Spurs’ progress over the past couple of seasons where he has emerged as the regular partner to compatriot Jan Vertonghen. However, during his period on the sidelines this term, summer signing Davinson Sanchez has impressed at the heart of the defence to the extent that Pochettino has stuck with the Colombian following Alderweireld’s comeback.
The Belgian’s current contract standoff with Spurs may have also hampered his chances of gaining regular playing time and it appears that Pochettino wants a settled backline for the 2018/19 campaign and beyond. Alderweireld has made three starts for Tottenham Hotspur since the turn of the year and just one of those have come in the top-flight.

The Italy international has not been a regular starter under Massimiliano Allegri, and has featured in just 18 of the Bianconeri’s 34 league games this term.
According to Calciomercato, the 23-year-old could be pushed to pursue a new challenge in the summer after finding himself behind the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Mehdi Benatia in the pecking order for a central defensive role.
As a result, the Italian is understood to be attracting interest from long-term admirers Arsenal, though the north London side have to pay up a sum of at least £35m to pursue his services.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has often been reluctant to spend massive sums on defensive recruits but this trend is likely to change in the coming months with the Frenchman due to exit the club.
Wenger has already confirmed that he would be ending his 22-year association with the Gunners during the summer and the arrival of a new head coach is likely to spur a spending spree on the defensive department, in particular.
Over the course of the 2017/18 season, the Gunners have been an exciting club to watch in regards to their attack-minded approach but this has often caught them short at the back with Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi struggling to impress.
As a result, Rugani seems to have emerged as a probable target with his excellent passing and concentration attributes, though a summer deal could be delayed until Juventus find a resolution over Allegri’s future.
Allegri has been on the radar of both Arsenal and Chelsea of late and the Bianconeri appear keen on solving the manager’s future first before dealing on the uncertainty over their first-team players.

The 47-year-old has been on a 12-month sabbatical following his departure from Barcelona last summer but he is widely expected to take up a managerial role ahead of next season.
With this in regard, Enrique has emerged as the favourite to take up the vacancy with the Gunners after Wenger announced that he would be stepping down from his head coach role next month.
According to The Sun, Enrique is prepared to demand a transfer warchest of around £200m as he plans to ‘rip through the first-team squad’ ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
The report adds that only the positions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are safe and the remaining players could be fighting for their respective positions.
Arsenal have always been an attack-minded team who have qualified regularly for the Champions League but of late, they have been found short especially at the back with Laurent Koscielny dropping his performance levels.
Apart from the standing captain, there are also issues relating to his defensive partner Shkodran Mustafi as well as the central midfield and Enrique is seemingly keen on recruiting Radja Nainggolan to bolster the centre of the park.
The north London outfit have yet to formally announce any sort of agreement with Enrique but The Sun suggests that the Spaniard would command a similar wage to Wenger during the course of his current contract.
After much criticism, Wenger signed a fresh two-year contract worth £9m a year last summer and the club’s hierarchy may have to comply with an equivalent financial agreement for Enrique.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a surprise approach to re-sign Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion during the summer. The Baggies are almost certain to drop into next season’s Championship and this could signal the departure of the Northern Irishman.
According to The Sun, United boss Jose Mourinho is not entirely impressed with his central defensive options and Evans has been earmarked as a cut-price option to bolster the ranks further.
West Brom have previously placed a £25m price tag on Evans’ head which had warded off interest from the likes of Leicester City, Manchester City and Arsenal but they are now in a position where they can command just one-twelfth of their valuation.
As per The Sun, Evans has a relegation release clause of just £3m on his existing deal and this is certain to come to effect once the Baggies’ demotion is confirmed in the next few weeks.
Despite the speculation, it does not make much sense for Mourinho to recruit another central defender, unless he has plans to offload one of his existing players from his first-team squad.
Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof should have their positions secure having joined the Red Devils under the Portuguese’s tutelage, and this supposedly leaves Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in the danger zone considering Marcos Rojo signed a new deal earlier this year.
Both Jones and Smalling have been slated by the fans for their poor positioning in certain games but the pair are also capable of producing inspirational performances – with one of those coming against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final win.
As such, Mourinho may rather stick with his current options in central defence and the focus could perhaps be placed more on the full-back spots with both Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young turning 33 prior to the start of next season.
