On 4th January, renowned journalist Duncan Castles said (Transfer Window Podcast):
“They (LFC) went higher (for Van Dijk) than those competing clubs (Chelsea and Man City) were prepared to go but they convinced the player first and that is what I’ve told they’ve done with Lemar too.”
On 7th January, John Cross from the Mirror reported that Liverpool want Lemar to replace Coutinho and the player is ready to snub the likes of Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea because he is keen to move to Anfield.
Yesterday, Mirror reported that the reigning French champions are open to selling Lemar this month but Liverpool will have to splash a fee of £90million to secure his signing.
However, later in the day, renowned French source RMC Sport reported that Thomas will only leave if a concrete offer is made and he would cost 70 million euros (£62million) minimum. It is mentioned that Liverpool are watching Lemar and should not really be bothered by his price tag.
It seems that Lemar’s price tag has dropped. Why? Perhaps because of his poor form. So far, the 22-year-old winger has only scored 3 goals in 20 games for Monaco in the current campaign. Nevertheless, he has the quality to be a hit at Anfield.

Liverpool need to sort out their defense soon if they are to compete with the best of teams in the continent. Moreover, they need a top quality goal keeper as well.
Since the departure of Pepe Reina, the Merseysiders have lacked a consistent goalie. Not to forget, the Spaniard was signed by Benitez back in 2005.
At the moment, Mignolet is Liverpool’s first choice shot stopper. The Belgian goalie has got a fantastic record from spot kicks but overall, he has proved to be inconsistent.
In such a scenario, the Reds are looking to sign a new goal keeper and according to reports, they want Real Madrid star Keylor Navas.
Also Read: Liverpool Ready Contract Until 2022 to Sign Star
According to Diario Gol, Klopp urgently needs a goalie and Liverpool are very interested in signing the Costa Rican star. One can always take a punt on who the club will sign to improve the squad and if you are looking for extra cash for betting then the no deposit free bets must be tried.
The Spanish source state that the 30-year-old is tired that every summer he is linked with a move away from the Los Blancos. In another report, Diario Gol have mentioned that Ronaldo wants Navas to be replaced.
At the moment, Keylor is out with a tear in the abductor muscle. His current contract with the reigning European Champions will expire in 2020 and it has a huge release clause of €200million (Sport).
Navas has the quality to solve the goalkeeping dilemma at Anfield and Klopp must splash the cash to sign him.

As far as the transfers are concerned, Mourinho strengthened his defense, midfield and the strike-force department in the summer transfer window but did not lure any attacking midfielder.
Reports (via Independent) going on in the media have suggested the Portuguese boss is confident that he can sign Arsenal star Mesut Ozil next summer.
His contract with the Gunners will expire next year and his current deal (Star) is worth £140,000-a-week ($9.5million-a-year).
According to another report covered by Goal recently, the German international would be willing to move to Manchester United or Real or Barca. On the other hand, he could also agree a new deal with the North Londoners.
Ozil has been out of form this season and at the moment, he is out injured. The former Real Madrid star has been criticized for his inconsistent performances and Arsenal have done well in his absence in the current campaign.
In your opinion, should Arsene Wenger let Ozil leave?

Liverpool were shaky at the back last season and Klopp failed to adequately strengthen his defense in the summer transfer window.
The German boss sold a quality center half in the form of Mamadou Sakho, who joined Crystal Palace on deadline day. On the other hand, the Reds only lured Andrew Robertson from Hull to reinforce the defense
Not to forget, first choice right back Clyne is out injured and will not be able to feature in the group stages of the Champions League for the Anfield club. Fortunately, the likes of Trent and Joe have stepped up in the absence of Clyne.
Henderson has mainly performed the duties of a defensive midfielder but he is not a specialist play breaker. In such a scenario, the Reds must splash the cash to strengthen things at the back in the January transfer window if they are to seriously challenge for big prizes.
Also Read: Liverpool Fatigue Concerns – Firmino, Salah & Mane
Liverpool were mainly linked with Virgil van Dijk in the summer window but the Saints opted to keep him. Reports (Telegraph) suggest that the Reds are still interested in signing the $78million rated star and in all fairness, they have to splash the cash to secure is signature in January.
Liverpool were lucky in the CL draw and should be considered favorites to qualify for the next round. In the KO stages of the competition, just a single away goal can change the balance of the tie completely and the five time European Champions are weak at the back.
Klopp needs a leader in his back line and Van Dijk would be the perfect man for that role. He is widely regarded as one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and the former Dortmund boss must lure him in the winter transfer window.
As per the provided Telegraph link, Southampton intend to hold on to him until at least next summer.

The 21-year-old winger was fantastic for the Ligue 1 champions in the last campaign but it must be remembered that the team have already lost stars like Mendy, Bakayoko and Silva.
According to an exclusive report covered by Le10Sport, Liverpool offered 72 million euros plus Divock Origi on loan to the French side, however they are not interested in signing the Belgian international.
The French source have mentioned that Monaco only want cash to accept the transfer of Lemar, so, Liverpool would have to come up with a massive financial proposal.
Monaco would be aware of the fact that Coutinho’s future is up in the air and if he is sold to Barca, Liverpool would surely get huge funds.
Le10Sport have not mentioned any figure that the Reds should pay to reach an agreement but it might be 100 million euros as per Sky’s Kaveh Solhekol. We shall see how the transfer saga will unfold today.

The Merseysiders want to sign Virgil van Dijk from the Saints and the move could happen before the deadline ends.
According to Evening Standard, Liverpool are cautiously looking to strike a deal for the Dutch defender for whom, the Reds could pay a fee of £70million and wages worth over £100,000-a-week ($129,000-a-week).
Virgil’s current deal with Southampton will expire in 2022 and at the moment, he is earning around £65,000-a-week (Star).
If the former Celtic defender does end up moving to Anfield, then we can expect him partner Joel Matip in the central defense under the management of Klopp. The Cameroonian star has been the most consistent center back for the Reds since moving to Anfield last summer.
As far as the midfield department is concerned, we covered a report (via BBC) earlier in the day claiming that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected the chance to join Chelsea and he wants to sign for Liverpool.
According to the latest reports (Mirror) going on in the media, Klopp is clear to seal the deal for the Engalnd international now that Arsenal have given the green light to sell him to Liverpool.
Also Read: Klopp Set to Shell Out $97million to Sign Star for Liverpool
As per Evening Standard, Liverpool moved in with an offer worth 30 million pounds to sign the 24-year-old versatile star, however, the bid was rejected as Arsenal are looking for a fee worth 40 million pounds ($52million), that was agreed with the Blues.
As per the provided ES link, Ox wants to play in the midfield and believes that there are more chances of that happening at Anfield.
It will be fair to stay that getting into the Liverpool midfield is going to be very hard because the department is over-crowded with players like Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Milner and Grujic around.
Liverpool absolutely ripped Arsenal apart last Sunday and Oxlade-Chamberlain started that contest for the Gunners.

The Reds have been heavily linked with Virgil van Dijk all summer long but will he end up at Anfield? We shall see.
As per the latest update provided today by Paul Joyce from the Times, Liverpool are prepared to pay a fee of 70 million pounds to make Van Dijk the most expensive defender in the history of the game.
Last season, Van Dijk was fantastic for the club under the management of Claude Puel before getting injured in January. Things have drastically changed this summer.
The 26-year-old central defender has not played a single game for the Saints this season after submitting an official transfer request.
As per the provided Times link, Liverpool are also linked with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the player is waiting to find out whether Arsenal will do business with the Reds.

One quality attacked linked with a move to Anfield is PSG star Lucas Moura. Yesterday, we covered a report (via Goal) claiming that his days at the French club are numbered and Liverpool are one of the clubs looking to sign him.
In my opinion, Liverpool have to splash the cash to agree the signing of the 24-year-old star if Coutinho exits the club.
Also Read: Klopp’s Probable 4-3-3 XI for Liverpool without Coutinho
The Ligue 1 star is a proven quality star who is currently in his peak years. He can effectively play on either flank and is way faster than Coutinho. The idea of playing super quick players like Mane, Salah and Lucas in the attack should be too mouthwatering for Jurgen Klopp.
In the last campaign, he started 29 league games for Paris Saint-Germain and directly contributed in 17 goals (12 goals and 5 assists).
He has got ample experience at the international level as well. Coutinho has made 28 appearances for the senior Brazilian side so far. On the other hand, Moura has played 35 times for the Selecao.
Reports have suggested that he is only rated (Le Parisien) around €30million and that price tag is by no means expensive in today’s highly inflated market. In your opinion, is Lucas good enough to replace Coutinho?

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Ivorian international and Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier.
Today, Mirror have reported that there is a deal in place for Man United to sign the fullback for a fee of 27 million pounds (€30million).
It is mentioned in the report that the Red Devils have already agreed terms with the player via his agent Mino Raiola and the player is expected to join once he is allowed to enter the UK.
The question is, how will Aurier line up under the management of Mourinho if he does complete Man United move?
In the last campaign, the Portuguese boss mainly used two formations 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3. In those setups, the former Chelsea boss mostly utilized Antonio Valencia in the right back position.
The Ecuadorian star will turn 32 very soon and he should be replaced by young defender and the 24-year-old African star can do the job nicely. His discipline is a major concern, if Mourinho can manage that then there is no doubt that Aurier will be a hit in the Premier League.
Here is how Manchester United will line up with Aurier.
