The five time world champions Brazil were considered favorites against Paraguay as two sides met in the quarter finals.

Argentina were considered favorites to beat Paraguay in their opening contest of the Copa America but their defense crumbled under pressure.

Paraguay constantly piled pressure on shaky Argentine defense and it eventually paid of in the 90th minute. La Albiceleste failed to deal with a free kick as the ball was nodded in the path of Barrios who leveled the score with a low strike.
