Liverpool are lacking quality and depth in their strike-force and Jurgen Klopp needs to strengthen the department by signing a proven quality goalscorer in the summer transfer window.
The German manager is also looking to sign talented youngsters and once again Nottingham Forest’s Ben Brereton is in the limelight.
Back in the month of January, the former Borussia Dortmund boss himself contacted the Championship side (via Mirror) to discuss a potential move for the 17-year-old center forward.
Now, according to the Sun, Nottingham rate the teenager around 10 million pounds ($12million) and the Reds are eager to secure his signing this summer by meeting the mentioned asking price.
After scoring 15 goals in 20 games for the U-23 Forest side (Mirror), Ben got promoted to the senior team this season and he has produced impressive performances.
In 8 league appearances so far, the English forward has played 415 minutes and directly contributed in 5 goals (3 goals and 2 assists) i.e. averaging a goal/assist every 83 minutes.
Ben could be a great signing for the Merseysiders in the years to come but he will definitely not get straight into the starting XI and solve Liverpool’s conundrum.
Klopp needs a top quality center forward who will immediately improve his strike-force and score at least 20 league goals a season.

Liverpool need to sign a proven quality striker in the January transfer window and have been linked with a few names.
The Reds can secure the signing of former Red Devil Javier Chicharito Hernandez for a cut price of $26million (via Bild) but the Mexican international is past his best and currently out of form as well.
On the other hand, reports suggest that the Merseysiders are also interested in signing a young striker in the form of Nottingham Forest starlet Ben Brereton.
If reports are anything to go by then Liverpool have moved in to inquire about signing the teenage player.
The 17-year-old center forward is a talented prospect who is wanted by a host of clubs and Liverpool are one of them as reported by Notthingham Post few days ago.
This is Anfield reported that Klopp has personally made a phone call to contact Notthingahm Forest over a potential move for the youngster. Daily Mirror reported the same yesterday.
Currently, Divock Origi is the only fit first team striker and the Reds must reinforce their strike-force this month by signing a top goalscorer.

Red Devils are badly in need of quality defenders as this season their defense has been worst in years and big names are departing as well.
Captain Vidic will not be there next season and same may as well be the case with Ferdinand.
Even if the veteran is there, his best days are long gone and United need fresh blood.
Therefore, signing solid defenders is a must for Manchester United in the next transfer window.
According to Metro, the premier league giants have been scouting young 20 year old Nottingham Forest’s center back Jamaal Lascelles for quite some time and Moyes is lining up a summer move for him.
As per the provided link, previously Liverpool, Everton and even Arsenal have made inquiries about the talented star. Surely that says a lot about his potential.
However, Moyes is not ready to gamble on new signings and have assigned scouts to watch him till the end of the season and then decide whether to lure him or not. Moyes will have a complete analysis at the end of the season.
Metro also reports that Nottingham Forest will be looking for a fee of around $25 million for Lascelles which is by no means a cheap sum for a 20 year old player.
