The Reds have already defeated Manuel Pellegrini’s men in the league this season and will have to deliver a similar performance if they want to win the competition.
As far as Liverpool’s team news is concerned, it is highly unlikely that manager Jurgen Klopp will make many changes in the starting XI that ousted Augsburg from the Europa League in the midweek.

Samba star Lucas Leiva was deployed in the central defense against the German Bundesliga side and was clearly not comfortable playing in that role. The Brazilian will probably be replaced by Ivorian Kolo Toure.
Emre Can may perform the duties of a central defensive midfielder. He should partner Henderson (captain) and Milner (vice-captain) in the central midfield.
Here is Liverpool’s strongest possible 4-3-3 XI vs Manchester City.
The Reds had a goal advantage going into the second leg vs the Potters but Mark Hughes’ men leveled the score on aggregate thanks to a controversial goal scored by Arnautovic late in the first half.
No goals were scored after that in regular and extra time and the game was eventually decided by penalty kicks. Simon Mignolet made two brilliant saves for the Reds and Joe Allen confidently dispatched the winning penalty to ensure Wembley return.
Everyone attached with Liverpool is ecstatic about returning to the Wembley Stadium and here are a few reactions from the former Reds who were absolutely delighted with the victory. Surely, the legendary Steven Gerrard was never going to miss out from the list.

The Reds have the advantage after beating the Potters 1-0 away from home.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has named a strong starting XI and has made only two changes in the team that started against the Canaries last weekend in the Premier League.
Jon Flanagan starts his first game for the club after returning from his 18 month injury. The Anfield faithful will be delighted to see him start tonight. The England international replaced summer signing Nathaneil Clyne and will play as the right full back.

On the other hand, Jordon Ibe finds himself on the bench tonight and he has been replaced by former Southampton captain Adam Lallana in the starting XI. Lallana scored the 95th minute winner against Norwich last Saturday.
Lucas will make his 300th appearance for the Reds tonight. Dejan Lovren returns from his injury to take place on the bench.
Here is Liverpool’s confirmed starting XI formation vs Stoke City.
The Reds have advantage after beating the Potters 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium and hold stronger cards at home to qualify for the final for the first time since winning the competition in 2012 under Kenny Dalglish.

As far as Liverpool’s team news is concerned, not many changes should be expected in the starting XI that played against the Canaries at the weekend.
In form Robero Firmino should start as the lone striker (False No. 9) up front. Benteke will probably find himself on the bench again. Adam Lallana should return to the starting XI in place of Ibe. The former Southampton star scored a last minute winner to earn Liverpool three points vs Norwich.
Here is Liverpool’s probable starting XI vs Stoke City.
Jurgen Klopp was delighted with the way his team responded after the shocking defeat suffered at the hands of West Ham United in the Premier League.
Jordon Ibe scored the only goal of the game assisted by Welsh international Joe Allen. The victory is bitter sweet for the Reds as players like Dejan Lovren and Phil Coutinho also got injured.

Liverpool face a huge dilemma in the central defense now because the likes of Lovren, Sakho and Skrtel are out injured. On the other hand, losing star playmaker Coutinho is a big blow as well.
The Merseysiders have to step up big time in the absence of key players as the second leg is not going to be easy by any means.
Here are Liverpool player ratings against Stoke City.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were largely poor during the game against the Hammers and must improve big time when they face Stoke City in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi final tie.
The Reds have been impressive in the league cup and defeated Southampton 6-1 away from home in the quarter final contest. Stoke also lost their last game after back to back PL wins and will be hoping to bounce back in the midweek.
Manchester City, Stoke City and Everton confirmed their places in the last four with comfortable victories last night. Can Liverpool do the same tonight? We shall see.
As far as Liverpool’s team news is concerned, manager Jurgen Klopp has made several changes in the starting XI that played against Swansea. Moreover, the usual 4-2-3-1 will not be used and the Red are playing 4-4-2 diamond formation.
Sturridge stars upfront with Belgian strike partner Divock Origi. Adam Lallana is playing on top of the diamond behind the two strikers.
Lucas is captaining the Reds today and he is partnered by Can and Joe Allen in the midfield. Randall starts in the defense in place of first choice right back Clyne and last but not the least Adam Bogdan starts in goal in place of Mignolet.
