Two weeks after confirming Jose Mourinho as their new manager, Manchester United have officially sealed the first signing of his era by luring Eric Bailly from Spanish side Villareal.
The 22-year-old Ivory Coast defender has joined the Red Devils for a fee believed to be around 38 million Euros (BBC).
Eric played a pivotal role in helping the national side win the coveted African Cup of Nations crown back in 2015. Bailly featured in every single game of the tournament.
Last season, the African star made 35 appearances in all competitions for Villareal and helped them earn Champions League qualification. He scored a goal and provided an assist as well.
Bailly is a “quick and versatile” (Mirror) defender who has got all the qualities to be a hit in the Premier League under the management of the former Chelsea boss.
Man United’s summer business is far from done and they must look to bring in more quality players before the start of the new season.

Eric is even closer to sealing Old Trafford move after a report from Sky Sports claimed that the 22-year-old defender has successfully passed his medical at Manchester United.
Bailly is a versatile star who is naturally a center half but has been effectively utilized in the full back positions as well. According to expert Terry Gibson (Sky), “Bailly is a fast, tall, athletic and strong central defender”
Last season, the African star was in form for the Yellow Submarine and put in fantastic performances against the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool.
