Jurgen Klopp signed two central defenders last summer still, the Reds were shaky at the back in the last campaign.
After officially apologizing and ending their interest in Southampton star Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool are looking at other options to improve their back line and reports suggest that the German boss is eyeing two English stars, who have a combined worth of $63million.
According to an exclusive report covered by the Sun, after messing up things to sign Van Dijk, Liverpool are once again interested in signing Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson to strengthen their central defense.
Moreover, the British source claim that Klopp is also eyeing Burnley star Michael Keane as well.
Last season, Gibson featured in every PL fixture for Boro but could not help the team survive relegation. The 24-year-old center half scored one goal and also provided one assist in the league.
As per the provided Sun link, Middlesbrough are looking to get at least 20 million pounds from his sale ($25million).
On the other hand, Keane played 35 league games for the Clarets, scored two goals and provided one assist. His current deal with Burnley will expire at the end of next season but he is still rated (Metro) around 30 million pounds ($38million).
Manchester United were linked with re-signing Keane (Metro). Now that the Red Devils have agreed to sign a top CB in the form of Victor Lindelof, they really do not need to pursue Michael’s signature.
