Liverpool were heavily interested in signing Tom Ince from Blackpool last winter, however a deal could not go through. The reds reportedly came back to sign the England international last month but again nothing concrete.
Now reports suggest that Cardiff have actually paid Blackpool’s asking price for the talented midfielder but Liverpool are to hijack the move for England star. The former Reds star had a brilliant season in the championship for Blackpool and Rodgers was eagerly interested in signing him back in January.
Brendan Rodgers claimed:

“It is about affordability as well. If Tom stays at Blackpool it doesn’t mean he won’t join Liverpool at a later stage. Maybe in this window it might be a difficult one for us.”

Things have completely changed now. Liverpool have already signed four stars this summer and two of them namely Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto play in the positions Tom Ince plays for Blackpool i.e. Out wide as well as center attacking midfielder.
Hence, it is highly unlikely that Liverpool will hijack Cardiff’s move for Tom Ince by paying more, simply because they do not need the English player. His dad Paul Ince said:

“Cardiff have come in massively for Thomas and the chairman has accepted their offer.”
“When he comes back (next Monday), we’ll sit down and see what we want to do. He loves it here and has told me he’s in no rush to leave the club.”

Ince’s dream of playing in the premier league on regular basis can be fulfilled by joining Cardiff but he may as well have the option of joining a bigger club if he waits till the end of transfer season. However, the chances of him ending up at Liverpool this summer are dim.
Other than Aspas and Alberto, Liverpool also have young stars like Suso and Sterling who have gained decent top flight experience with the merseysiders in the last campaign and are ready to step up next season.
Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool are not looking to stop their transfer business as yet. The fans can expect more new signings as well as a few departures.

Liverpool are back in the race to sign Tom Ince. The youngster has been heavily linked with the reds over the past few months and it seems Rodgers is eager to bring young star back to Anfield. Reds are considered favorites to land the Blackpool’s midfielder but do they really need him?
Since the English international left Liverpool in 2011, he has become a shining star in the championship. Ince has scored no less than 18 times this season and has provided 14 assists as well. Liverpool have a significant transfer season coming up next and Rodgers will have to weigh his options carefully with limited budget available.
Having bought the likes of Sturridge and Coutinho for a combined sum of 20 million in the winter transfer market, perhaps Rodgers was not allowed to move for more players but he did state Liverpool’s desire to lure their ex-midfielder. The manager claimed:

“It is about affordability as well. If Tom stays at Blackpool it doesn’t mean he won’t join Liverpool at a later stage. Maybe in this window it might be a difficult one for us.”

It seems that Tom may as well be Liverpool’s priority as other suitors are showing interest in the talented midfielder as well.
However, Liverpool already have numerous options upfront. Ince is mainly utilized as an attacking midfielder on the left wing but that spot is currently occupied by winter signing from Inter Phil Countiho. The young Brazilian has been a revelation for the reds having already scored 3 goals and provided 7 assists in just 13 appearances.
Coutinho has won over the fans with his sublime displays week in week out but that is not all. Liverpool have an array of gifted young attacking midfielders such as the likes of Suso, Sterling and the newcomer who only made his debut yesterday Jordan Ibe. The 17 year old was impressive against QPR in the final game of the season.
In all honesty, it will be hard to keep Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho out of the starting lineup if they are fit. Therefore that actually does not leave any starting place (4-3-3) for the likes mentioned above and same goes for Ince who will surely be looking for first team football.
The list does not end there, Downing, Assaidi, Shelvey and Borini are other names as well. The good thing for Liverpool is that they finally have depth, may be little less experienced but still quality depth. It will be interesting to see how Rodgers sets up his team next season with new signings.
As far as Ince is concerned, he is way too talented to be ignored especially if the price is just 8 million. Liverpool paid the same amount to sign Countinho and you just never know the English international might prove as fruitful for the reds as the Brazilian.
