Historic win for Albania at the European Championships

Albania made history last night after winning their first ever game at a major competition and they did so with immense passion and hard work.
The Albanians defeated Romania 1-0 and have now given themselves a slight chance of qualifying to the knock out stages of the European Championships.
Gianni De Biasi’s side only scored seven goals in their qualifying campaign and had to battl hard to earn all three points last night. They were on top in the first half and were rewarded with a goal in the 43rd minute.
A great ball from Memushaj found Sadiku at the back post who brilliantly headed the ball in the net for the only goal of the game.
Romania mainly dominated in the second 45 minutes but had no end product in the final third. After taking the lead, the Albanians defended for their lives and were rewarded for their efforts.

France have qualified for the knockout rounds of the European Championships after beating a stubborn and impressive Albanian side last night.
The Albanians are on the brink of elimination after suffering back to back defeats in the competition. The Les Bleus stars won their opening game thanks to a late winner by Payet. This time around, Griezmann showed up late to put France in control.
Deschamps’ men failed to create many clear cut opportunities mainly because Albania defended brilliantly all game. A few good chances fell to Arsenal’s 1.92m striker Olivier Giroud but he failed to find the net with his headers.
In came 1.75m Griezmann in the 68th minute and broke Albania’s resistance withe a headed goal in the 90th minute.
In the final minute of injury time, West Ham superstar Payet scored his second goal of the tournament to seal the victory for the French side.
The hosts are one of the favorites to win the coveted prize, however, they have not performed well enough. They must step up big time to challenge the big teams in the competition.
