Chicago Cubs will count on Jon Lester (4-4 with a 3.86 ERA), who yielded 9 hits and 6 runs in five innings of a 3-7 loss at Miami last Wednesday.

In the matter of fact, Lester pitched well in most of his previous eleven starts this season, but it should be noted, that the left-hander went 2-2 with a 4.29 ERA in his last six starts versus Detroit.

Both teams show good efficiency in offense lately, so my bet is for more than seven runs in the opening game of this series.

Toronto is one of the hottest teams in baseball in this moment, as the Blue Jays managed to win each of their last six games, scoring a total of 46 runs in this period (7.67 runs per game).

The Marlins, on the other hand, won six of their last ten games (6-4), but were limited to three or fewer runs in half of those five outings.

The Blue Jays will send to the mound their ace Mark Buehrle (7-4 with a 4.35 ERA), who was outstanding in his last starts, in which the right-hander gave up just 6 hits over nine scoreless innings in a 8-0 win over Washington last Wednesday.

Miami will give the ball to Dan Haren (6-2 with a 3.18 ERA), who has posted a 6.23 ERA in two starts versus Toronto over the last three years.

Considering the current form of these two teams, I think that Toronto Blue Jays will win that game with more than one run difference.

Masahiro Tanaka (3-1 with a 2.76 ERA), who takes the mound for the Yankees in the opening game of their three-game set against Washington Nationals, is obviously in a good shape after his return from an injury, as the left-hander yielded 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out nine in seven innings of a 3-1 win at Seattle last Wednesday.

Tanaka, who will make his first start against the Nationals, went 3-1 with a 1.53 ERA in four interleague starts.

Washington will give the ball to Max Scherzer (6-4 with a 1.85 ERA), who is coming off his worst start of the season, as the righty gave up 4 runs on 6 hits, with two walks over six innings against Toronto Blue Jays last Tuesday (3-7).Scherzer went 3-1 with a 0.79 ERA in his previous five starts away from home in 2015, but it should be noted that he posted a 4.86 ERA in his last three starts versus New York.

I think that the Yankees will manage to win the opening game of this series.

Miguel Gonzalez (5-4 with a 3.54 ERA), who will start for Baltimore, pitched well in most of his previous eleven starts this season, as the right-hander surrendered three or fewer runs in seven of them.

On the other hand, Gonzalez had obvious problems in his previous two starts against the Red Sox this season, allowing 13 hits and 7 runs, with five walks over eleven innings in those two outings.

The Red Sox will send to the mound Eduardo Rodriguez (2-0 with a 0.61 ERA), who was outstanding in his previous two starts this season, as the left-hander gave up just 3 hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings against Texas on May 28 (5-1) and 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out seven over seven innings in a 6-3 win against Minnesota last Wednesday.

I think that Boston Red Sox will win that game.

Ukraine is among the big favorites in Group C (3rd position / 3-0-2 6-2), but more important for my bet is, that this team showed really good play in defense in its previous five games in this group, as the hosts conceded only two goals in those five encounters.

Luxembourg, on the other hand, is a team with obvious problems in attack, as the visitors scored only three goals in their previous five games in this group (0-1-4 3-14).

Ukraine won to nil in the previous two games between these two teams (Luxembourg – Ukraine 0-3 on 08.06.2006 / friendly ; Luxembourg – Ukraine 0-3 on 15.11.2014 / EURO qualifiers) and I expect the same outcome in this match at “Olimpiyskiy Stadium” in Kyiv.

Lithuania is on 4th position in Group E, with two victories and three defeats after five rounds (2-0-3 3-10).

However, this position is somehow deceptive, considering the fact, that the hosts won their points against weak teams like San Marino (2-0 / away) and Estonia (1-0 / home).

Switzerland, on the other hand, is a team full of talanted players and although the visitors had some problems at the start of the campaign, I think that this team own enough potential to finish the campaign at least on second position in this group.

Switzerland took a 4-0 victory in the first match between these two teams in November (Switzerland – Lithuania 4-0 on 15.11.2014) and considering the current situation in this group, I doubt that the visitors will make mistake in this clash.

There is no doubt that Brazil will enter this tournament with big motivation to win the title after the shameful performance of the World Cup finals last summer.

There are enough prerequisites for that and I doubt, that “Celesao” will have problems to qualify for the next stage of the tournament in a group with the teams of Colombia, Peru and Venezuela.

Peru is a team, built mainly by players from the local league and according to most of the experts, the White-Reds will hardly manage to win points against Brazil or Colombia.

I think that Brazil will win this match with more than one goal difference.

Faroe Islands is the absolute outsider in Group F (1-0-4 2-7), but although the hosts don’t have chances to qualify for the upcoming EURO’ 2016, they showed decent football in most of their previous games in this group, especially in defense, as this team conceded only seven goals until this moment (1.40 goals per game).

Greece continues to struggle in attack, as the visitors have scored only one goal in their last six games (0-2-4 1-6).On the other hand, the defense of this team is on its usual good level, which is actually one of the main reasons for my bet.

I doubt that we’ll see more than two goals in this match.
