Ridiculous thing about this number 1: I do not know how many times it needs to be said, United's behaviour over Berbatov was a disgrace. On top of which, when Daniel Levy produced clear evidence of this, including blatant tapping-up, not only did the FA refuse to act, but they also allowed Ferguson to send a parting barb that was humiliating and belittling to Mr Levy. I doubt he will ever do business with United again. Ferguson knew that and said as much by way of explaining why he never made a move for Modric - the most obvious replacement for Paul Scholes.
Ridiculous thing about this number 2: Spurs have made a point not to strengthen direct rivals ever since the aforementioned Berbatov robbery. Why should anyone suppose they will suddenly sell three players to one direct rival?
Ridiculous thing about this number 3: You say Mourinho is 'now ready to splash a huge sum' on the three Tottenham players, and then produce the figure of £110 million that is doing the rounds. There are two things wrong with this. Firstly, is that really such a huge sum' for the players mentioned? Walker and Rose are both touted as being the best in their position in the BPL. Both are coming into their peak years. Dier is versatile and widely seen as a future England captain. All three are on long contracts and all three are English with the premium of being home-grown. In today's inflated market, prime inflated Citeh paid £50 million for John Stones. On what planet, exactly, are these three, under these conditions valued at so much less than him? And secondly, and related, why do these articles keep stating how much United are 'prepared' to pay? Apart from the obvious answer that this is how much their OT paymasters are telling them to say as part of the tapping-up process! What about how much Spurs are 'prepared' to accept? Do these people not understand that it will be Daniel Levy they will have to deal with? And Daniel Levy in a position of strength!
Walker might just be sold. Not likely to United. And not likely less than the John Stones fee. All three...no chance! Even if they were, a 'huge' fee would have to be three times the John Stones fee plus. So, maybe £165 million plus. Doubt even that offer would get Spurs willing to sell - especially not to United!
