He should have come last summer , maybe he get back to his old strenght with the manager who discover him , but for an Experiment he is too expansive.

No doubt he is a quality player, but the problem is his form in the past seasons. With the quality that he has, I think he has to take a look at himself and see why he could not break into the first teams of Bayern and Dortmunt. But to me it will be a risk buy.

Certainly a risk. His last two years have been poor and, at the age of 24, that is not a good thing. Coming to a league in which the pace is even greater than in Germany would stretch somebody playing well so to ask somebody who can’t get in to a German team to come here and suddenly reverse two whole years of decline and poor play is quite some ask. If it worked he’d be a superb buy but I’d want to get him for less than £20m – on the basis of his recent form and not his initial, hugely impressive form of two years ago – which would not be a huge loss if it went pear-shaped and we then needed to sell him back to Germany for £15m.
