It's all well and good getting current players to sign contract extensions but I'm somewhat baffled how spending the last few hours of the transfer window doing that is going to get us out of the downwards spiral we are in? We need NEW players, and NOT kids with a likely sell-on value in a few years when they've not quite made the grade.
Heaton, from Burnley, at least one new full-back, at least one CB, a defensive midfielder, a winger and a striker . . . with notification that Lucas, Sakho, Sturridge, Stewart and Origi are outwards bound would stop the rot, me thinks!
Simply ignoring known and well-documented weaknesses - in the unlikely hope that they will either go away or the fans will stop mentioning them after every defeat - just ain't gonna work. You see a problem - we have many, believe me - you fix the problem with the tens of millions currently in the manager's desk drawer.
