Sure, keep Coutinho, Lallana, Mane, Firmino and Clyne happy but what about the chronic lack of a defensive midfielder – which has cost us dearly this year – or somebody to give some sense of purpose to the defence? Is Milner the best we can get for LB, with that walking disaster Moreno as his back-up?
What about Mork and Mindy, up front? Sturridge and Origi can’t do what we want in our team pattern yet the transfer window slams shut in a few hours with no dealings being made. Lucas is still with us, at the moment I’m writing this, as is Sakho and Stewart (unless there is something very last minute), we’ve still got dodgy keepers and we could most certainly do with a bit more width.
Our star players cannot do it all and, currently, the lack of depth in our squad is causing us major problems. Will we beat Chelsea? God knows, but if we don’t we’ll be overtaken for fourth spot within a few days and, on current form, I can’t see us regaining that spot . . . and in a few hours the door slams tightly SHUT! A chance missed? Oh, yes!
