We’ve lost Dele Ali, Begovic and Eriksen in recent years because we wouldn’t pay what was demanded and we stupidly thought the selling club would slash their asking prices. They didn’t and, in two of those cases, Spurs stepped in to pay the full fee and now have two of the best players in England because of it.
Dortmund might ask for £70m for this guy, we’ll offer £40m and then stand by whilst he signs for Madrid, Arsenal, United, City or Chelsea who won’t even quibble about the fee.
