Hi Mark,
Agree with most of what you say. However, if the wages figures quoted in the story are anyway close to reality, and if one assumes Hugo has another five productive years in goal, then the difference in earnings for that five years is £26 million.
Even allowing for half of that going in tax (just guessing that tax rate, don't know anything about the UK tax regime) then that's still a huge amount of extra take-home pay which would make an enormous difference to his children and grand-children down the road. So if that scenario develops, then Hugo has a lot of thinking to do.
The other side of it of course is if we can hold on to him until the new stadium is up and running in two years time, with the gate receipts almost doubling, we will then be in a better position to try to match offers from other clubs and hold on to him (and others) and keep our team together. So Daniel and Poch could have a bit of fancy bargaining to do in the meantime and hopefully they will be successful. COYS.

If it's based career opportunities he will stay at Tottenham. There is something seriously wrong at Manchester United where already it is clear the players do not want to play for Mourinho (what a surprise). Tottenham have CL football this season and a much better chance of doing so than Manchester United next season. Chuck in the new ground and living in London, I reckon he'll stay. Having said all that and wasted 2 minutes of my life, the story is, of course, complete garbage.
