As Henderson’s name wasn’t in the list of attacking midfield players I hope you aren’t implying that he is a defensive midfielder? If so this is morphing into an advert for Specsavers as his defensive aptitude is nowhere near good enough for a top club with ambitions to win things.
We haven’t had a decent DM since Alonso left, with far too much reliance being placed on the wholly inadequate shoulders of the mediocre Lucas and, more recently, Henderson. Neither remotely good enough for being Liverpool’s DM and, with a defence as fragile as ours, it will mean we concede too any goals, end of story.
Currently got over £18m MORE in the bank than we started the transfer window with and another few million coming when Alberto leaves so let’s not pretend that LFC are contenders because, with an ageing RIGHT-winger playing at Left-back and no specialist DM, we are just going through the motions.
We might look frisky going forward but any time the table are turned and we are put under any pressure we will look like we are going to concede goals.
Grujic can’t get a kick, whilst not being on the field, Wijnaldum can’t get a kick whilst being on the field and Sturridge, frowning more than smiling, doesn’t know if he’ll be a right winger or striker and is often neither as he’s on the bench! Five points behind after three games . . . sorry, it doesn’t look good as the transfer window slams shut in a few hours.
